dara khosrowshahi says his company's policies and practices have evolved over the past few years. >> when something does happen, and it does, this is real life, we respond in a way that is victim centric, victim first. >> uber wants to take this pin verification system a step further so soon your phone will semilessly talk to the phone of the uber you've called. it will then tell you when the right vehicle has pulled up. that your ride is verified, and this is the car to get into. >> the new features come as the ridesharing industry faces scrutiny overpass injury safety. a recent "washington post" reports that agents and uber's special investigation unit are coached to put the company's reputation ahead of passenger safety. >> what do you say to the reported and to folks who have either sued you or suffered a sexual assault that feel like the response wasn't good. >> i say that that report fundamentally was based on hear sai, we're not perfect, i wouldn't claim to be perfect but i believe we are significantly better than last year and next year, we are going to be better. >> uber hop

. ♪ taylor: it has been two years since uber ceo dara khosrowshahi took the reins. e to him about the evolution under his leadership, including his future. take a listen. dara: part of our business has to fight for money and if they are not deserving money, they will not get it. internally, there is lots of creative destruction and competition and if one part of our business is not carrying its own weight, we will hold back from china and didi, a big ridesharing business in china. we want to build a business the right way, but if something is not working, we believe we have demonstrated the financial discipline to make the right call at the right time. emily: driver protests are not unusual. democratic presidential candidate pete buttigieg was out there with them. buttigieg said you ought to be protected as a worker. there is support for legislation for companies like uber to make employees full-time. why aren't they full-time? dara: they don't want to be full-time. more than half our drivers drive less than 10 hours a week. california has a historic opportunity. we
