darcy spencer joins us now live from the scene. darcy? >> reporter: jim, i can tell you, this was a very, very serious accident involving a prince george's county police officer. all we can tell you at this point is that it's a male officer. he was taken to the hospital close to the crash scene. his cruiser crashed into a utility pole here at surratts road and branch avenue. there was a second vehicle involved. you can see the white vehicle there. a lot of serious damage there as well. both the officer as well as the person who was in the second vehicle were taken here to southern maryland hospital. we do not have an update at this point on the condition of the officer as well as that other person who was taken to the hospital. now, prince george's county police are not providing a lot of details about the circumstances surrounding this incident. we don't know if the officer was responding to a call, or exactly what was happening at the time of the crash. the chief of police is here, and a press conference is scheduled for 6:15 at the hos
