[applause] >> i would like to echo lawrence wonderful comments. i think we are in for a delightful conversation. i am so thrilled to be here with both of these two dynamic women. i would like to start off by asking you to give us the context and situate how you were findto uncover and somebody photographs that have not been published before. kennedy,-author, dana had come to me -- can you hear? is that better? ok. how are we doing? ok. everyone can hear me now? sorry. if there was something we could do from the new york times photo archives that would be of interest to young african-american readers. immediately, i thought of an idea. a couple years prior to that the former new york times picture editor came to visit the time, and i had the opportunity to sit with him for an hour. i asked him, is there anything in the archives i should be going back to look for? john became a little agitated and said go back and re-edit everything. he said, they did not let us run the right pictures.
