. >> news4's darcy spencer joins us live at the scenes with the latest. darcy, are they still keeping people out of the hotel? >> reporter: right now people are not allowed to go back into the hotel to stay because all of the utilities have been turned off. but they are being allowed to go in, you can see here, some people going in to retrieve some of their belongings as well as some of their pets. people travel with pets nowadays. but they have to come back out. as you said, nine people were transported from the hotel here this afternoon after dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide were detected here. i'm told that eight of the nine people are hotel employees, and many of them worked in the laundry room. and that's where they believe that the source of this carbon monoxide poisoning is. four of the victims were taken to shock trauma in baltimore. their injuries are considered to be serious. fortunately, everyone is expected to be okay. now, the fire department here in anne arundel county had to evacuate the entire building, all seven floors. some peop

darcy spencer was with the homeowner when faa investigators arrived at her home. >> reporter: tonight, an investigation supervise we are the faa leaves a home in herndon. that's where this object crashed through the house landing in the dining room. the faa trying to figure out if it fell off a plane. >> we have no idea if it's an aircraft part or where it came from and we have to investigate it. >> reporter: abby baker says she found the piece of metal and the hole in her upping and in her ceiling friday morning. when she returned from taking her child to school, she lives in a dull else airport flight path. >> at first i thought maybe a gas pipe burst. then i found this piece here that i thought maybe was a pipe from the gas pipe. but when i had the gas company come out, it was identified as likely a piece of aircraft. >> reporter: this mystery object came down into the typing room. baker's concern, what if someone had been standing here when it happened. it's about four inches long and weighs a couple of pounds. the faa plans to have the national transportation safety board analyze

darcy spencer is near marlboro pike where police have hand out flyers in hopes of generating new leads in this case. erica, they certainly have. we are here at the lexington courts apartments and their bodies discovered yesterday afternoon. prince georges county police on this case now for a little more than 24 hours. they've been handing out these flyers today. for the first time we are seeing pictures of these three victims, police are still trying to figure out who killed them and why. today homicide detectives back in the neighborhood where three people were shot to death. police trying to get information that could lead to an arrest. earlier, prince georges county police were in the nearby wood, searching for evidence and looking in dumpsters trying to find clues that would lead to a killer and a motive. the victims identified today. 38-year-old ortiz ola who lived in the apartment where the crimes happened. the other two victims lived in laurel. 33-year-old staci white and 33-year-old weldon mason. here's how police say the victims were connected. >> we've been able to determine

darcy spencer has details on her injuries and the two men arrested in that case. >> reporter: the mother of 8-year-old mikayla darden says she is still in the icu. the little girl was shot in the chest. the bullet hit her lung. she is on a ventilator, but is responding to her mom's voice. her mom says she is relieved two men have been charged in the shooting, but it doesn't change what happened to her daughter. we're learning more about the shooting through these charging documents. police have charged 19-year-old kari brown and 21-year-old nathanial pat tennesseten, know psycho. the documents say after the gunfire erupted children in the courtyard pointed out the two suspects to a witness and said "there they go." as the suspects were running away. police arrested the men around the corner and when they were being questioned, here's what they said. they went ton apartment building there on valley avenue to buy an ounce of pot for a hundred bucks. they say the victim, mikayla, opened the door for them. once inside the building, they say a man pulled a gun. during the struggle, the gun dr

darcy spencer is live at the scene. darcy? >> well, just a heartbreaking story here in southeast washington today. we wrapped up a press briefing with d.c. police, and they are confirming that the little girl is 8 years old, and lives right here in the neighborhood. she was shot and wounded just after 3:00 this afternoon, and police say that right now she is in surgery clinging to life. let me tell you what her grandmother told me a few moments ago. she says that little girl was walking from this building here to her aunt's house from this building here to her mother's house this afternoon just after 3:00 when the shots rang out. the d.c. police at the briefing said that when the shooting happened, there was a group of people running from the scene. now, this is a gated community here there. is a gate that you have to go through to get through, as well as the fencing here, so it is not an easy place to get into and out of unless you in fact live here or are let in. d.c. police saying that at this point they have no lookout inf

darcy spencer has been following this story.as the report. >> reporter: the mother of the little girl says she's still in t theicu. she was shot in the chest and lung. two men have been charged in the shooting, but the mom says it doesn't change what happened to her daughter. we're learning more through the documents. karie brown and nathanle are charged. two children pointed to the men and said there they go as this suspects ran a way. the police arrested them around the corner. when arrested this is what they said. they went to the apartment to buy an ounce of pot. they say the victim, michaela opened the door for them. they say inside the building, a man fired a gun. they say they fired shots as the man ran away. one witness told police he heard what sounded like a robbery in the hallway when the suspects were in the building. documents say neither suspect had money to buy the drugs casting down on their story. police say they had masks when they were arrested and a.22 caliber handgun was found nearby. >> the little girl's fa

darcy spencer joins us live with a story you'll see only on news 4. darcy? >> reporter: erica, the closest ambulance was actually seven miles away, and the firefighters and paramedics who transported that child in the fire truck right here to united medical center in southeast are being praised for actions. they say it probably saved the child's live. critics are asking why wasn't there an ambulance closer by? sources tell news 4 it was a dc fire truck from company 33 in washington that transported a toddler having seizures to the hospital about 5:00 friday afternoon, not an ambulance. that's because the closest ambulance was switeven miles aw returning from the hospital. the paramedic made the decision to take the child to united medical center on the truck, whether than wait for the ambulance to drive across town and wait in traffic. that decision being prized by the fire chief. >> a good idea. the right decision to make and a good decision for the patient. >> reporter: critics say it's a patient the paramedics should not have to make, that it points to a

reporting live from northwest washington, darcy spencer, news 4. >>> thanks, darzi.re's a new report that details how d.c. police can respond to hate crimes and help the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. that report independently produced was finished back in september, but it was only released today. among the 30 recommendations, the d.c. police agreed they urgently need to build trust with the transgender community. they need to improve training on transgender issues and review past cases. also the police department admits that it needs to make sure that its policies on investigating hate crimes are effective. >>> in prince georges county, police are looking for the two men in this video. they are connected with several robberies in the area. the video is from one of the holdups at a liquor store on old annapolis road last week. police believe the men also robbed two gas stations in buoy, maryland. during one of those robberies, the men sped off on a black motorcycle. >>> still ahead, questioned by tsa agents. why one woman was told her d.c. driver'

tonight, darcy spencer is in sterling with the latest on the connection. >> reporter: police want you to take a look at this sketch. they say the man depicted here has been robbing women at gunpoint. the robberies have residents in this sterling neighborhood alarmed. >> there are families with small children, to hear something like that is surprising, especially my wife is walking to work. we'll have to make as you were we're on our guard. >> reporter: the louden sheriff's office says the man robbed two women over the last week at the rem ming ton apartments. in one case he told a woman to give him her wallet and jacket and in the other he snatched her wallet. >> worked from out of state but never had issues here. we hope it stays safe and whoever or whatever the issue is gets resolved quickly. >> reporter: they believe he may have committed two other holdups of women four miles away. he forced a woman to drop the items she was holding and take off some clothes. a little later the same day he pointed a gun at a woman unloading grocery. she screamed, he ran away. police want to get him
