we're going to begin with news4's darcy spencer learning more about the woman who died. darcy? >> reporter: well, leon, we are here at mary mount university's new building in boston. this is where this young woman came every day for classes and this is where her professor and fellow classmates got together today to talk about her loss. let's start with some photos of this beautiful young woman who was lost this weekend. marissa harris was a graduate student studying clinical counseling at mary mount. she wanted to help young people who were dealing with mental health challenges. she was driving on i-66 saturday afternoon when a 12-year-old boy jumped from the cedar lane overpass and landed right on her suv. now, police described it as an attempted suicide. harris' boyfriend was in the passenger seat of her suv. he grabbed the wheel and steered to safety. we spoke to her professor today here at mary mount about how the school is dealing with her death. >>> what kind of student was she? what impression did she make? >> i think among the students and the faculty, marissa came acro

news 4's darcy spencer is where the couples live. she joins us with reaction from those who knew them. darcy? >> reporter: well, they lived right here in this adams morgan neighborhood, but they also owned a home at the beach. they were at the beach in delaware this week when this tragedy happened. we want to show you a photo of this couple. jimmy walton shown here on the left and his husband greg chidick were beach. they were stopped on their bikes. a man driving an suv had some sort of medical emergency, blacked out behind the wheel, and slammed into this couple. this news has been absolutely devastating for their family and for friends. jimmy was a graphic artist. grant was a government contractor who also served on the condo board here in the neighborhood. and they had just celebrated their one-year anniversary. how big of a loss is this would you say for the community? >> i think it's a huge loss. i mean, to the community and to their friends and family and just, you know, how sudden and tragic it has been to learn about it and t
