darla? >> reporter: lori, l.i.r.r. crews had to replace 1,000 feet of train tracks including the electrofied third rail. they worked all night long. some crews are on the track this morning as they are trying to get things back to normal. overnight that second train car was lifted from the tracks. part of the challenge with these repairs and why it has taken so long, the derailed train was carrying tons of construction debris. crews had to lift the train carefully without toppling over the debris. that is what they had to do before they could start work repairing the tracks. when they got under the train car, they saw the damage to the rail was much worse than they thought which is why those repairs took long and it jammed up the wednesday morning commute. still out of service. they are single tracking. that's why we are getting reports of delays. i heard from some people on twitter, delays are stacking up about 30 minutes. as you can see, the major repairs are done. they are single tracking. one track is in service bu
