michael babcock speaks for the first time about his terrifying encounter with a knife-wielding daron wint just came in like this. he'd be tried for my murder if it wasn't for me surviving it. >> reporter: and wint's case file reveals that babcock is just one in a long trail of people who have been violently threatened and attacked by wint. yet when wint emigrated from the south american country of guyana to the u.s., his future seemed bright. 12 years before the mansion murders, he landed a well-paying job as a welder at american iron works, the company owned by savvas savopoulos. but for reasons unknown wint left the company after only two years. and that's when things went south for him. while living in suburban maryland, wint's own father, shown here on his facebook page, feared living with him. getting a protective order after he says wint threatened to shoot him. a relative, who didn't want to be named, telling abc news that wint had a hair-trigger temper. >> he's very hostile. he's arrogant. everywhere he went he fought with people. he fights with his father, his brother, everybody.

the search warrant for the car, suspect daron wint was founded. investigators are looking for blood-stained gasoline-soaked clothing and duct tape. along with other items linked to the grisly killings. they are also looking for a red bag believed to be the way the money was brought here. what it was contained in. only one person charged. so far only one person charged and behind bars. that is daron wint. maureen: no word on a cause of a deadly rowhouse fire in northwest washington. that took place at riggs and 16 and "r" street and killed a man and a woman. the names of the victims have not been released. the family of cecil mills firing a $7 million lawsuit against the d.c. government. you might remember mills collapsed outside a northeast washington fire station in january of last year. the firefighters inside did nothing to help him. ambulance was dispatched to the wrong quadrant of the city. mills died a short time later. the last building standing in the marketplace tonight is ruins after providing a rare training opportunity for firefighters

because police have been saying all along that they believe daron wint, the only suspect in this casee. we've uncovered new leads investigators are looking at, including daron wint's cousin who worked with him was fired from the savopoulos family. but not only that, he threatened to burn down american iron works. that threat was taken so seriously the company took out a restraining order against him at the time. but still, that was ten years ago and it's still very much a mystery why this happened, why daron wint, as we said, the only suspect, would come back and do something like this to his former boss. we know that police are also looking at his brother who was with him in his convoy when he was arrested and, ashleigh, we've also learned from sources that daron wint's dna was found in various parts of the crime scene, not just on that piece of pizza crust that ultimately led to the manhunt and his arrest. so we'll be finding out a lot more in this special airing tonight at 9:30 p.m. eastern time. >> and just a couple seconds on the family. did you learn more about this family that

charged in the murder, 34-year-old daron wint. in 2005 he work for american iron works, a company own by savvas savopoulos. wint was identified when his dna was found on a piece of uneaten pizza in the house. he was picked up on a traffic stop. he was with a man and two women. there was a box truck there with two men inside. during the home invasion an assistant brought $40,000 in cash to the savopoulos home. that money has not been accounted for. police say after wint's arrest, they found $10,000 in money orders and what appeared to be a large stack of $100 bills. now these are some of the items police say they're searching for. duct tape or other material that can be used to bind hands and feet. clothing or shoes containing blood. credit cards or anything in the names of the video. police still looking for three cell phones. three cell phones stolen from the three adult victims here. police have been working this scene for days and days. tomorrow it will be three weeks. investigators believe this could be the work of more than o
