darrell, the guy i worked with, went to the front. the bell rang again, and i heard can you help me out? i said what's going on. he said, well, malcolm x is here, i don't know that he called him that, but he said he's here. i said, yes? the man with him said, well, ma'am, you know that brother malcolm don't talk to white people. i said what? he said, that's right. i said, i didn't know what to do, so i said, well, what do you want? they went on to explain that they wanted to place some copies in our paper. i said that to darrell, they want to place a copy in our paper. darrell said to me, well how much is it, and are they willing to pay? he said how much is it, and are you willing to pay? [laughter] we told him, and they said, we're not paying anything. they're not paying anything. so finally, darrell said, i don't have enough space, and i will have to edit it, and i repeated that, of course, for which i was told, one of them said, we can't have you do that, no, we can't have you do that. it was at that point that i turned to darrell

and i said back to darrell, they want to place a copy in our paper. and darrell said to me, how much is it and are they willing to pay? and i said, he said how much is it and are you willing to pay next.
