darren is your tremendous up to date. doerun? >> that fog is making you feel like, what heat wave if you're near the city. if we take a look at livermore, concord, san jose, and oakland, these are the ones that will typically feel the highest numbers. today was livermore's turn to go the highest. these are not official. official numbers will come in by the time we get to the 6:00 hour. these numbers might digest. that is where we stand at these points. they are kind of our representative spots. this is the scene for mount diablo looking down on concord. it is 99 degrees here in concord right now. and if we do the same thing for san jose, we will see a better number. the current number is only 87. if you look ahead, you will see a difference. we have one more day where there is an excessive heat warning. tomorrow's temperatures are not as hot as today but they will still be close. 100 in pleasanton. 101 in concord. as a result of those numbers, we still have a map in san jose. we will look at the places that still need to stay on

darren? >> daytime highs for today warming up into the mid-90s for this warmer inland east bay valleys. it will be a hot one today. it is not excessively hot today. that shows up tomorrow. when we look at that, you can see where the excessive heat warning is. san jose, you are included in this as well. anywhere along the immediate bay shore like city, peninsula or immediate east bay is not included in it. seven day for san francisco and oakland shows us it will be warm in oakland. we are warming up to the upper 70s. that's not hot. it is just noticeably warmer. you'll have a nice weekend in fact. north bay valleys on the verge of 100 for saturday and sunday. san jose will be in the mid-90s. when we look at the inland east bay, here is where we see the peak heat going to 106 on saturday, 103 sunday. look at the middle of next week. you'll be back in the mid-80s. beaches will stay in the mid-60s. they will be a popular place to be on saturday and sunday. you might want to take that into conside

but the summer heat is coming, at least that's what i hear from darren. >> we don't want to bottle that time lapse here in about four days. >> yeah, it is going to be that hot. triple digits are coming back. it will happen fast, but we are talking about the late part of the week. and what is usually the poster child for the bay area spikes in temperature. we're going inland. that's concord out there. basically we are kind of surveying inland contra costa county. this is where the temperatures are going to jump the most. i want to show you what happens over the next five days. by friday, we are already into that red 103. saturday at this point, it will probably be as hot, if not hotter than that. when we go through the complete forecast, you'll see saturday is probably the peak of this particular spike in heat. but look at how this will come on. it's only going to be in the mid-80s there tomorrow, in the low .10. we'll look at this for everybody, coming up in the complete forecast. but that's just to give you an idea of how it will play out. here's friday, bay area wide. you can pick out

now that the worst of the heat is behind us, let's check in with darren peck. >> we are taking a big step down sunday. 10 degrees cooler. it will still be hot. to put that in perspective look at where we should have been. if you want to know the average, the warmest locations in the trivalley, 88 is the average this time of the year. if we switch from what the average is to today's high, it was 105. san jose, 81 would have been your average. it was 91 there. and hayward was about 11 degrees above average. when i say we are coming down about 10 degrees that means we are bringing the numbers back down to average but that can still be hot. we will look at the exact forecast coming up in a bit. the other item to discuss with you is the air quality. san jose, we are tracking the air quality down here. we had another air quality advisory today. we don't have one tomorrow. the situation will improve. oakland, you are also still registering at moderate. it the is same pattern responsible for getting rid of the smoke and cooling off the temperatures. we'll have the forecast in a few minutes.

darren peck is tracking some of the smoke that is drifting away. we are getting complaints in concord as well. >> once you smell it you know you are breathing in more than you want to. that should be your first indicator. the readings are not bad. the look outside from the top of mount diablo and you can see the haze. we are looking down at walnut creek, and you can tell that it is a hazy day out there. the smoke is coming down from oregon. i will show you the pinpoint source coming up in a moment, but first, here is what the air quality is down on the ground. we will take our needle for walnut creek. it looks worse than what it is. right now your air quality is actually just moderate. we will do this for one other location. san jose, you have a little bit more than most of the bay does as well and we will bring in the reading here. the good news is we will also register this one in the moderate category. that is the worst that i can find at this point around the bay. in general that is good news, but we are stuck in this pattern for a little while
