what are you learning today about the police officer who has now been named, darren wilson? >> darren wilson, but you know the police department, even though they released the video images of michael brown involved in what they say was a strong-arm robbery yesterday, many people still angry about the fact of the picture of darren wilson, the 28-year-old officer involved in this shooting was not released. so they describe him, the police department here in ferguson, as a six-year veteran, as a police officer, four of those years spent with the ferguson police department. he's described as quiet and distinguished. we had a chance to speak with a friend of his, someone who's known darren wilson since high school. a man by the name of jake shepherd. they went to high school together, played on the same hockey team. he said he was stunned when he heard that police had announced that his friend was involved in the shooting. in fact he says that he thought there must have been another darren wilson on that ferguson police force who was involved when he first heard that news. >> i c

louis radio station, ktfk, matches the account of officer darren wilson as to what happened at the time of the shooting, brooke. the caller to the radio station identified only as "josi" told listeners she knew officer wilson's side of the story in detail. she said she laid out wilson's account, and i'm going to summarize it below. we'll get the audio for you later on, so be patient. he says the boys were walking in the street. he rolled the window down and told them to get out of the street. he may have called for backup when he pulled over. he heard the call for the strong-arm robbery and saw the teens carrying something that might have been cigars. he pulled over and when he tried to get out of the car twice he was pushed back into the car by michael. michael then punched him in the face, and darren reached for his gun. michael grabbed the gun, and at one point, had the gun pushed again -- darren's -- pushed against darren's hip so darren pushed the gun away and the gun went off. michael and his friend ran and darren got out of the car and pursued as is protocol. he told them to free

aparentally the officer, darren wilson, was in the neighborhood. he had responded to a different call of some sort. so he then got in his car and started heading towards the quick trip where the suspects were supposed to be heading. apparently, that's around the time he encountered michael brown and dorian johnson. that's where the details end. what we do know though from the new documents that were just released is that from the time that the officer reportedly encountered michael brown and dorian johnson until the time another officer arrived on scene after michael brown had already been shot was just three minutes. so very quick, time line of events here. we're hearing from protesters anger regarding that information being released. saying now we know about the robbery which makes michael brown look like a suspect. in their words, he is being villainized. and yet he's a shooting victim. and we're not hearing anything about that incident. those details. and so there's still a lot of frustration about the lack of information in this, wolf. >> are
