good morning. >> reporter: good morning, dave. the oakland police are detaining two people in connection with a chp initiated pursuit that began on high street and ended up here at 13th and chatam. the intersection behind me. it's actually chat -- you can clearly see as the headlights end up on the ground all of the debris left behind. the chp spotted this black american made vehicle traveling northbound on high street about 1:00 in the morning at a high rate of speed. chp gave chase. chp then called opd about eight minutes after 1:00. at that time they were investigating a shooting at 45th and international reported at 1:00 a.m.. police recovered a weapon and say it may have been thrown from this wrecked vehicle. the proximity of all this is why the police think it may be connected. because high speed is connected with international. they detained a man and woman. they are investigating to see if the weapon was involved in the shooting. the victims injuries are considered nonlife threatening. they have not been arrested or charge
