dave? >> reporter: iain, police are now awaiting a report from the medical examiner's office on the death of barrydell hairston after a violent encounter here at tenth poplar early this morning. police say they tased him after he reached into a car and choked a philadelphia police officer. >> barry was a good guy. >> reporter: that's the way friends remembered 55-year-old baby cardell hairston after he died thursday morning during an encounter with philadelphia police here at tenth poplar. >> barry was a good guy. he didn't bother nobody. >> reporter: it started way 911 call just before 5:00 a.m. about man jumping up and down on a truck and screaming help me jesus. within minutes as police arrived, the man attacked a female officer before she even got out of her patrol car. >> he approached her driver's side window, grabbed her by the head and neck area. >> reporter: another officer then tased hairston and took him to the ground in handcuffs. officers then noticed he was unresponsive. >> i don't know what prompted him to do what he did even from the beginning jumping up and down and screaming on h

dave and pam at the deck. >> all right. thank you. >>> big story. two members of tower of power the legendly barry band suffered internal injuries last faith. they were hit by a train in oakland. am exwith more details on what happened out there. >> reporter: good morning to you. those two band members were walking their hotel at jack london square over to yoshi's nightclub where tower of power was set to preform last night. as the two men crossed the street and the train tracks that run along the street here they were struck by a amtrak train. this all happened about 8:00 last night. the trains crossing arms reportedly were down at the time of the accident. the two issue juried band members have been identified as the drummer and bassist. both men suffered serious internal injuries after being hit but they were in fact awake. the gm of the nightclub heard the crash and ran outside to help. >> we don't know, if they didn't hear the trainor -- we don't know how the tragedy happened. you know we are very, very -- sad about this. >> oldest funk band i know of and part of oakland. part of oakland hist
