cbs 2's dave carlin is live in our newsroom with the new details. dave. >> reporter: the district attorney calls the convicted officer a killer and reckless but just made it clear he wants no prison time for liang. on november 20, 2014, officer peter liang and his partner were performing a vertical patrol inside the pink houses in east new york. and liang fired his gun in an unlit stairwell hitting akai liang was convict of second- degree manslaughter. and he faced a sentence of up to 15 years. the brooklyn district attorney just announced justice will be best served if liang's sentence is five years' probation with no jail time. but the condition he serves six months of home confinement with electronic monitoring and he perform 500 hours of community service. the d.a. says: >> reporter: akai gurley's family is aware of these sentencing recommendations. the gurley family's attorney sent us this reaction: >> reporter: brooklyn district

cbs 2's dave carlin live in our newsroom with more on this. dave. >> reporter: maurice, at least 6 people were shot including virginia state troopers. it was just before 3 p.m. this afternoon when a shooter opened fire at richmond, virginia's greyhound bus station. the public is still being kept back from the scene, which you are looking at right now. it is across the street from richmond's minor league baseball stadium. police say the shooter fired fire. police sources in richmond tell our cbs affiliate the shooter and one of the troopers is dead. police are not releasing the name of the suspect and any possible motive. we are also awaiting word on the conditions of those injured. at least two are in critical condition. and when we get more information, we'll make sure to get it to you. live in the newsroom, dave >>> we do have a commuter alert. a disabled amtrak train causing problems on the lirr. the train is stuck outside one of the east river tunnels and a rescue train is on its way. but the lirr says to expect cancellations and also delay
