>> i see that the south bay all of a sudden is getting our attention here, dave and garcia, because because of a couple of crashes. first of all, 280 northbound, i have a live picture showing it there. it's getting crowded, getting up to highway 17 today. there seems to be a little more traffic. it seems to be more orderly than it was yesterday when we had the wet weather. but i'll show you the grid here. you can see 85 northbound at almaden, a second straight day of a crash there. people are saying, oh my goodness, not another crash on 85. and then southbound 680 coming in from the sunol grade at the bottom here at fremont, there was a crash near altamont and that's causing slow traffic as well. 880 is slow through hayward. that's more along the lines of routine slowing. and here at the bay bridge, same thing goes it's backed up for about a 10 to 15 minute delay. if you drive it every day, especially if you're in the carpool lane, i think you'll be okay there. so 718 seems pretty dry out there. let's bring steve back in here. >> it is indeed. thank you, sal. we do have a few breaks in thos

dave and garcia, 24, is just a mess. if you're just waking up and hearing this, highway 24 is not going to be your friend. heading to the caldecott tunnel because of a crash that was right near the tunnel. i want to put it here on a map for you to show you that the traffic is going. let me see if i can put it up here. yeah, the traffic is going to be very slow. now, they're making some progress in getting it out of the way. but as i said, once you do something like that, the highway 24 and you have to deal with the tunnel, that's not going to clear up in the next hour. i'd say it's going to be that way for the rest of the morning commute. if you're going to the bay bridge, you will see the traffic is moving along. okay at the bay bridge toll plaza there is a backup there, but it's nothing unusual. and if you're going to the san mateo bridge, you will see the traffic. there is busy. i see some flashing lights out there in the center median. we'll see. i think that may be slowing traffic. we'll find out more about that 739

first of all, the bay bridge, garcia and dave, looking at this commute on the bay bridge, the first day of the closure and you can see it's definitely having an effect. my gut sense tells me that people who endure this commute this morning will make other arrangements tomorrow. this is not good. it's taking a very long time to get into san francisco and yesterday it took a very long time, according to some people that i spoke to, getting out. so you don't want to bring your car into san francisco. it's really having an effect also on the eastshore freeway, it's slow all the way up into richmond, believe it or not, heading down to the macarthur maze. i'm surprised that 580 isn't a little worse. 580 is not backed up into oakland. and if you're driving on some of the other bay area bridges like the san mateo bridge, that is beginning to get busy as well. so if you're going to the san mateo bridge, it is going to be slower than usual here heading across the bay. that's the biggest traffic story of the morning. we have some usual commutes like 680 to pleasanton and heading to sunol. there wa

as sid garcia from our sister station in los angeles reports, this bill, this new law, will help keep other teenagers safe in the future. >> the bill will save lives. >> state senator davee bill ten, known as melanie's law, has become law. it's named after melanie ramos. she's the 15 year old student who died of a fentanyl overdose last year at bernstein high school in hollywood hours after her mother was notified by the high school that melanie was missing. she was found in a school bathroom unresponsive. what melanie's law does is require all middle and high schools to put together a plan to prevent and respond to fentanyl overdoses. this includes training teachers on lifesaving fentanyl response and providing students and adults resources on what they need to know about the opioids. >> they will have to have a plan to respond to any overdose, to any incident like this with naloxone, which means they're going to have to have it. and it means that when they read the fine print in this bill, they're going to see that every single employee in the district and on these schools needs to be trained. >> the announcement was made outside lausd headquarters. melanie's mom, ele
