george's county. that photo posted by dave on my twitter page and i'll post that too on facebook here shortly. megan has a view of trees down too in reston. looks nasty there, megan. >> reporter: yeah. this storm packed a punch. at some neighborhoods have quite a bit of cleaning up to do. if you look behind me you can see the large tree that fell here. we're on trotter lane and you can see that it kind of came out at the root and snapped off the base. it came crashing down on the corner of the garage, but a lot of damage here. take a look at this video we shot a short time ago. this is on trotter lane, another large tree fell down and it actually went through the middle of that upper floor. actually into the house, causeing quite a bit of damage there. powerful winds as this storm blew through some of the neighborhoods and really a lot of clean-up to be done in some of the neighborhoods in our viewing area. we saw some trees down on roads which caused some problems. we'll send it over to melissa on traffic. how it is longing right now? >> overall, megan, looking good. chopper 4 over 66 the lan

this is the boulevard of the generals at george washington avenue so watch for that accident involving a tractor-trailer. and mass transit is on time, daves and muggy this morning as we start out karen and by 9 o'clock all the way up to 82 and into the low 90's around lunchtime and the humidity is definitely going to be back full force today. so, a day for cool drinks and taking it easy. 95 is your high. the other issue thunderstorms and they are going to start to come down out of the northern and western suburbs after about three or 4 o'clock. they'll probably be in and around i-95 corridor around the commute and over by the shore by later this evening. you can see how temperatures drop a little bit but it is going to be hot and humid and at times stormy and in terms of the storms later this afternoon and this evening several risks, lightning definitely going to see that; downpours definitely a high risk of that where these storms hit and strong winds. there is an isolated chance of a brief tornado out of this too. obviously guys when you see or the lightning or hear the thunder this afternoon or this evening head indoors to the lower f

george w. bush's national security. >> thank you. i am honored to be here. as dave acknowledged this conference series has extraordinary reputation. i am delighted to be a part of this. before i get started thanks to the center and hofstra for putting us on in putting together such a great program. as the program indicates the title of my paper is strategic staffing after september 11 and focuses on the utilization of what are often called presidential policies ours. particularly how bush use these policies ours to manage key aspects of the war on terror at various times and in different ways in the years following the terrorist attacks. the research that i presented my paper and that i will talk about briefly comes from a broader project about the czars in general. my partner on that project are publishing a book this summer with the university of michigan press that focuses on the evolution and rise of presidential policies ours as a managerial tool. for those for those of you who are starting christmas shopping early it comes out june. it will fit in a stocking e

shutting down the george washington bridge in retaliation for a new jersey mayor not endorsing christie's re-election. christie moves forward in a crowded 2016 race for president. dave wagner, nbc news. >> chris christie's announcement follows a year of slipping ratings. let's take a look at some of the numbers. they come from several rutgers/eagleton polls for the past year. the first right there, february 2013. among new jersey residents, christie had a favorable rating of 70%. fast forward to april 2015. this year. that number dropped to 38%. that same poll in april found that 24% of people in new jersey thought chris christie would make a good president. one professor of political science says while the decline may hurt voters elsewhere may not care that much how new jerseyians feel. we went to camden city hall to get reaction about christie's announcement. even the people who had something good to say about what he's done in new jersey said they still wouldn't vote for him. >> with the pensions they kept their word they put their money in the pensions but he didn't put any money back in the pensions so if he's breaking his word now, how's he going to keep his w
