joining us on the phone is freelance photographer, dave n cann cannon. >> reporter: good morning. can tell you that this is fire is moving fast. wind has been erratic as discussed. the humidity is super low. the fire behaves in ways that it doesn't when it's higher. it happened at the end of st. helena road. and came over the ridge and kind of expensive subdivisions up there. the fire came down, the wind pushed it down. >> i can see that you're very close to those flames. talk to me about what was burning, at this point, the flames i'm looking at that you got for us, this looks like it's mostly vegetation, but close to structures, did you see any structures catch fire? >> yes, definitely, maybe a dozen homes that i saw catch on fire. first it came over the ridge and it was only burning the vegetation, the trees, some pretty heavy timber up there, and a lot of the trees are torching and that cast embers forward. >> wow. >> creating problems for the firefighters because, you know, basically it would jump over the ridge, try to take a stand there. it wasn't working. >> tough job for
