dave ramsey. 20 years of practical wisdom from the trenches. me back. >> thank you, piers. >> you are the perfect guy to ask. so many politicians talking in political speak about the economy. there's a kind of disconnect that most people are sensing between them and washington and all this gobbledygook and the reality on the ground of what people in america are really having to endure economically. what do you make of where america is right now? if president obama says he's the right guy to be elected in november, has he earned that right from the way he's conducted himself economically? >> well, i think he said something in a speech the other day that was very telling. he said this is a time to make a choice between the economic policies that are going forward. now that sounds very much a political statement. people make those kinds of statements when they're on the stump all the time. but i think he was very right in that. the way he got elected was pledging hope. and hope was a wonderful campaign for him. the question people have to answer is

s and those would run larger operations say, dave ramsey is right we have to suck up the penalty, we the penalty than provide the benefits because the benefits are out of whack. that is twisted logic, right there? >>dave: the penalty is smaller than the cost of health care so it depends on how much provide. a small business owner has 60 employee and does not provide health care at all. he is faced with $50 a head in penalty if the law continues on the books or providing health care, this probably $750 a month per head. and, so, that guy will pay the penalty. but you just took $60,000 a year out of that guy's pocket and sent it to washington in penalties. guess what? that is probably two jobs you cost him. >>neil: they might turn what you said around and say, well, if everyone were forced to pay for coverage, dave's costs would come down and would not be so onerous and he would have nothing to whine about. what do you say? >>guest: well, we assuming the federal government is part of this. give me a break. >>neil: i cannot help you on that. you do note see that as logical but if the su
