averi harpy is live along the embarcadero in san francisco but first we want to go to dave spahr.e rain and wind in the weather center. good morning. >>> a good morning. as we have been talking about the intensity of the rain as we speak . it is entering into the city of san francisco, crossing the golden gate, and hope it -- as we speak, you can see right here, this seems to be outlining a little bit of what appears to be somewhat we say in the trade as a bow echo and it can carry with it some intense rainfall and heavy wind with it. it may not be that intense as we get in the midwest and deep south. the energy is concentrated into this line as you can see and the intensity is showing up on the radar. downtown san francisco, it extends and you can see the north bay, down to the south along the provincial a little bit. this will drift south, covering all of the city as we speak of her about the next 15 minutes. i show you this on the radar. it is popping up and running a little bit behind the storm tracker 4. there you can see it, write about there as it is starting to go towards

dave spahr is here - how cold will it get tonight? >> dave : temperatures are in the 30's for just about everybody here is the satellite image as far as heating goes not really people already down to 39 for livermore we have dry air in place and we're working on clear skies with winds also selling down in the far east bay in wind is starting to become, which will allow the cool and to kick and temperatures still in the 40's we have more it with your seven day forecast a parents group in walnut creek wants the city to use less pesticide chemicals in the city's parks and open spaces. they're afraid the chemicals could hurt their children. kron four's jeff bush talked to parents who attended a parks and rec meeting in walnut creek tonight. he brings us the story. >> jeff :the group called parents for a safer environment say the city of walnut creek is using harmful chemicals to maintain baseball parks and soccer fields and other open spaceand they fear the chemicals could build up in their children's bodies and eventually cause health pro

meteorologist dave spahr is here to tell us when that rain will arrive. >> the sun is going to put its performance out there, we're going to see this and then go back to bed. >> your work is done here. >> that's right. here's a live look from storm tracker 4 radar, they are watching some redeveloping, a shield of it out into the pacific, getting time to develop, looks like it's developing in the north bay as we speak for now. this will again spread out and cover much more territory, got all of the urbanized areas as we approach the p.m. hours. here we can see the rain starting to build coming in from the northwest, typical, true to fashion. 39 n. bay, florida napa, clear skies overnight, then allowed temperatures to fall fairly rapidly with dry air. now we do have a dry air mass to deal with, but temperatures are falling quite a bit already. so there is not as much resistance as there might normally be. 49 in san francisco downtown. here's how it phases, we get up to 56 or so by 2:00 p.m., that's what the model is telling us. seems like quite a stretch. strong southerly winds 15 to 20,

more fall-out from el nino is dave spahr is here.to tell us that the new year is making a chilly entrance>> dave : if it is great for skiers because there's a lot of snow in the mountains >> catherine : and a little chilly for new year's >> dave : sure to look at these temperatures we have frost and another day of that we're going to have thirties' in the north bay and napa about 34 because of that cloud cover which comes down to the north bay perhaps for sound--don by about 8:00 a.m. or so we see clouds have already made their way through the north bay but the east bay and the south bay and most of the peninsula still scared at that point so mostly sunny skies and then around 1:00 we have a few scattered showers possible but not a big deal here we can see near the coast particularly not a lot of moisture but going in tonight skies are clear for temperatures for hines in the bay shoreline we can see middle to low 50s but going forward for thursday we see in other batch of showers but we're going to ring in the new year on new year's day of very cold with upper 20s in the inland valley >>

we are dealing with cold but does not seem so bad compared to this but dave spahr is here to tell us-- we feel it because we are not used to add. >> right. a lot of moisture they are so it goes right through you. we have some rain happening last night and earlier this morning in spots. now that that has since passed, we are left with the moisture that is behind at the surface. we will get into that. the temperatures are in the 40s for the most part, 47 san francisco and 46 and 43 in santa rosa in the far east bay livermore coming in at 39. that storm system moves through and there is all of this moisture at the surface. we do not have a lot of instability above us that is cold air above us so the sun comes out. it produces clouds and we do not get more in terms of movement. we do not have much in the way of winds soak skies clear out, not much for winds but the protectors the moisture in the atmosphere that will support temperatures and a lot of thick frost in spots. here's what we're talking about. livermore, actually jumped down from last hour. probably getting drier air filtering
