host: dave spencer is the founder of practically republican. we welcome in our listeners on c-span radio and serious exit irius xm. john is on the line for conservative republicans. caller: thank you for taking my call. republicans have a value that they stand by, but the problem that we see right now is the messengers, the people sending the message out not connecting with the people. -- either you are a hard republican or you are soft. there are a lot of good ideas that republicans do have, but the problem is, i'm an immigrant who came in the 1980's. those republicans that i know for a fact have a difference with the democrats, but at the end of the day, they go to lunch and work together and do what is ever good for the country. that's the republicans i know. all the tea party that we have lately, there's a mixed message here. they say one thing and then they do a different thing. guest: it's really true. john brings up a really good point. there are some of the subtopics here, but identity politics is driving a lot of our system right now.
