now to dave warren. >> it is the rain plus the constant northeast that is piling the water up in a lotf the back bays. so we're seeing minor coastal flooding. the storm causing this just off of the coast of north carolina. just to the north we're getting this rain, but the highest wind gusts there all the way up to atlantic city. inland wind gusts, 20, 30, 40 miles an hour, these are coastal flood watches, warnings and advisories there. this is a coastal flood warning for the high tide today. the high tide area was septemberable to flooding, you can certainly see that today. the rain will spread up to new york and become heavy, and it continues to come down, and finally you see it begin to move out, but that's not until friday. so it could be a rainy end of the week and weekend. some drying weather is on the way. we'll look at that in the national forecast. >>> the white house says there might be room for a deal, a temporary suspension in raising the debt ceiling. >>> also for sports, the tradition of shaking hands after sporting events is being sidelined at one school, we'll tell you

meteorologist dave warren is here with an update. >> meteorologist: we're looking at information thatcoming in. the satellite picture shows, the cluster of thunderstorms is not around the center of circulation there, but it's not intensifying much, but the winds are still 50 mph and moving north-northwest at 7 mph. this is the information that came in at 4:00, 290 miles south of new orleans, and the track will move it up through louisiana and impacting the gulf coast here over the next 4 hours and then moving up through florida and pensacola saturday night into sunday. this is a big storm and we have more from this. a lot of information comes in from the national hurricane center. thank you for joining us. first i want to say it's a tropical storm not likely to intensintensify. should people let their guard down? >> no, that's a good point, you should not let your guard down because it's a tropical storm. it's still strong enough to move cars around, so you're not going to be want to be outside. it will break tree limbs, branch, and so forth. the biggest concern is the rainfall from t

. >>> i'm dave warren.e are look at weathered across the country that will be changing across the next 24 hours. right now it is not all that warm, but it will be warming up this afternoon. in denver it's still a bit chilly, the warmup occurs in texas and through kansas. the storm is moving up through the midwest, and that will keep the rain in place there across the mideast. this is hour by hour thursday up to 70 in oklahoma city, 68 in wichita, it will be warming up quickly and then dropping, overnight tonight the cold air comes in, and dropping into the 30s and only warming to the 40s by 11:00. some light rain will continue in pennsylvania, new jersey, and new york, but heavier rain in new england. and that sticks around for the next 24 hours. friday, 68 with sunshine, here is clearing, though, by saturday and sunday. sunny weather searchtures into the upper 60s, so it will eventually be clearing. this is near guam and it is a fairly strong storm. the track from the tie phone warning center has it going

. >> meteorologist: i'm meteorologist dave warren. we're looking at a lot of rain in texas, and flooding is a big problem in south texas. all this moisture coming in from the pacific. you can see the rains moving from south to north. they are in a drought in texas, but a little too much rain leading to flooding especially south of san antonio. they picked up a half inch of rain and estimating a foot of rain, so big flooding problems in south texas. the flood warnings continue, and also a wind advisory that is farther north with another storm. these are all the warnings and advisories. we're seeing winter storm warnings. big storm here that is just starting to develop. you see this spi spin developin, and it is windy with the possibility of even more flooding. now here's the future weather outlook here by 6:00 very heavy rain with storms loo look likel. that's moving to the dakotas pushing to the east. that's just in western south dakota. already too much rain and snow on the ground, the moisture is saturated, and this rain coming down

. >>> i'm meteorologist dave warren. look at your weather, first off we'll start across the country where the temperatures will be changing rapidly and quickly mainly in the midwest. some warmer temperatures expected here initially, and then it drops as the cold front moves through. the radar and clouds shows there is not much happening as far as rain goes here. let's focus first on these temperatures, right to the midwest, this is how they'll change. up to 70 in oklahoma city. wichita close to 70, quickly warming up here this morning. now this afternoon here comes this front through, by tomorrow morning down below the freezing mark or just at the freezing mark, below freezing in denver, there, 28 degrees. and wichita, ka ks -- kansas climbing only into the 40s by 11:00. all of this rain will be with a storm which is moving along this front that came through. tried to bring the cool area, but now it has stalled. there is the rain in ohio, moving through pennsylvania. here is where it is over the next 24 hours. pennsylvan

. >> meteorologist: i'm meteorologist dave warren. there are a lot of volunteers working to fight the fighters in australia. not all the best weather conditions and a number of fires out of control. these main scenes that you see coming in, the volunteer work coming in to fight all these fires. not much happening, maybe a few sprinkles trying to comb down through the clouds dry weather and windy conditions throughout much of australia including new south wales where the fires are. across the country, the temperatures are cold. very cold air is coming in from canada and moving south. chicago at 45 degrees. first time the temperatures drops to the freezing mark at one meter off the ground, freeze watches and warnings are issued. certainly a freeze watch around chicago and the temperatures are expected to drop down to the freezing mark and below to wisconsin and frost advisories. the temperatures do not have to get to 32 but you can still get frost forming on surfaces. a number of cold temperatures coming in with 28 in minneapolis. chica

. ♪ >>> i'm meteorologist dave warren. we are tracking a heavy storm through here.his is a tornado watch. this is a severe thunderstorm watch. so this line is moving from west to east and really has strong powerful winds with these storms as they move through. in the last 12 hours see how quickly this line is moving. this is a line, a squall line, starting to bow out a little bit, indicating that we could see very powerful winds as these storms move through. if you are east of this line, it will quickly turn from calm to stormy. breaks up just a little bit here over long island, but forms again in new jersey down through delaware, into maryland and virginia. how about the timing of this. depending on where you are, you will be dealing with these storms. in the next three hours it will be pushing through england here just west of boston through rhode island and all the way through long island. that is 9:00. but midnight, it should be moving through maine and just off of the coast of massachusetts. so as the storms move through, wind gusts will pick up. these are seve

dave warren is tracking that storm. ♪ >>> i'm meteorologist dave warren, we are watching india closely this cyclone has really intensified over the last 24 hours. the conditions are very favorable for this thing to intensify. you can see how it went from a blob to a circular storm with storms all around the eye. so that's an indication that this thing has really gotten powerful and intense. this is the forecast now. by saturday afternoon, local time, 155-mile-an-hour wind. just below a category 5 here in the us. so between saturday and saturday night that will be impacting that'sern coast of india. coastal flooding still a problem here over the next day or so with that northeast wind continuing, still gusting about 10 to 20 miles an hour. that water piles up in the back bays and can't get out with that northeast wind. the rain is still fairly heavy but by saturday it begins to move out. a look at the headlines is coming up. >>> this is al jazeera america live from new york city. i'm tony harris with a look at today's top stories. a group of house republicans are meeting with president

relevant to you. >> i'm meteorologist dave warren tracking a huge storm in the midwest. tornado watches and blizzard warns. the extent goes for miles but this is the center. we're seeing winter weather, severe weather potential with tornado watches in eastern nebraska. that's where it is all happening now. the radar, the clouds show the spin developing here. there is the heavy snow and severe weather and this will slowly track from west to east over the next few days. temperatures, 77 to 32, big difference between warm and cold air. where is it headed from the weekend forecast, here is the career weather for tomorrow. chicago getting strong. thunderstorms, the cold air with light know still falling in nebraska and south dakota. cooler air comes in, sunday, monday, and tuesday. the pacific coast dealing with fire conditions, red flag warnings in effect. and wind is picking up. now the gulf coast and east coast dealing with this storm, tropical storm karen impacting louisiana between saturday night and alabama and florida to sunday morning. then moving up to mid-atlantic w

. >> i'm meteorologist dave warren. looking at the fires on the map there, shows exactly where this is. here's sydney. close up view says there are three complexes here in the blue mountains and these two could merge, could even merge with the one north of springwood. that would create three fires merged together. the wind is pushing it towards populated areas, that is the big concern over the next 24 to 48 hours. you can see what is causing this wind direction change, storm is spinning clockwise, in the southern he hemisphere, that's w they spin there, changing that wind direction initially and increase the wind speed. once that storm moves off the storm may come in from the south and bring in some much needed moisture. does not look like the rain could make it up to sydney but could bring in cooler air and possibly moisture. a lot of the firefighters are volunteers, in that section of the country and some of the areas are coming from areas impacted by the fires. they are exhausted working so hard. blue mountains fires

. ♪ >>> i'm meteorologist dave warren, we're looking at the weather now.yphoon francisco is just to the west of guam. it has intensified greatly since it passed by guam just about 24 hours ago. now 45 miles an hour. clearly seeing the center of the storm here, and bans continuing to feed the center of the storm. the outlook over the next five days will continue to track this to the northwest and turn north right towards that pan. the previous typhoon did a lot of wind and rain damage. so we'll watch that closely and continue to update the forecast. in the middle of the country, it's cold and getting colder. right at 40 now in denver, but tonight the snow will here out, and the temperatures will drop and the skies clear. had some winter weather advisories in the higher elevations of colorado but that has cleared out. afternoon tonight and tonight these temperatures will drop down to the freezing mark and below. by tomorrow, climbing into the 50s so a little warmup, and then it gets a little warmer, into the 60s, saturday afternoon. another shot of cold area

. >> i'm meteorologist dave warren. showing the slrgs with karen but the thunderstorms not right with the circulation. not intensifying, but 50 miles an hour, latest observation that came in friday evening, 250 miles southeast of new orleans. passing by south of louisiana. this time seems to be saturday and sunday impacting louisiana with wind and rain, then sunday afternoon and evening going up in alabama and florida. could be anywhere in this area, focusing on alabama and the panhandle of florida. it will eventually move across land but by honorable is near south carolina and georgia and could cause flooding problems in the mid atlantic, could be absorbed by a storm in the midwest. it is the wind as the storm moves south of louisiana this wind direction will ploo ill piel a lot of water in the low lying areas of louisiana and that could be the biggest threat for a storm surge in that region. now, there's blizzard warnings in south dakota and severe thunderstorm effects in iowa, as storms move through. it is a large st

. ♪ >>> i'm meteorologist dave warren.e weather is moving across the southeast, and a lot of rain in a short period of time. the line of storms through western louisiana here continuing to push from west to east, actually bowing out, an indication that there is some strong wind with these storms. a close-up view shows a few isolated storms, and they have the potential to spin a little bit. we could see some isolated tornados as these storms move through. the watch extents in to mississippi. this area is seeing a lot of rain, but also flooding with these storms coming through texas and into arkansas and northwestern louisiana. this area could receive over 4 to 6 inches of rain. so flash flood warnings are issued throughout the state of texas. gulf moisture is coming up from the south, cold air from the north. that squeezes a lot of rain out, so a lot of rain and the potential for strong storms. it will continue to move east over the next 12 hours. so by this afternoon and this evening, western pennsylvania and western virgi

[♪ music ] >> meteorologist: i'm meteorologist dave warren. powerful storm will effect the northeast over the next few days. the mid-atlantic states are seeing the storm develop, and you can see this spin here. that's a deep area of low pressure. a very strong storm. up ahead of that we see the rain spread north but most importantly the factor with the storm is the wind. high pressure to the north. low to the south. northeast wind, and that will pile the water up in the bays here along with the rain each high tide gets a little higher. we had the high tide along the atlantic and it looks like we'll have minor to moderate over the next several days. now the storm is not moving too much, but the rain is starting to spread north, so look at rain to develop around washington, d.c. the timing of this looks to be wednesday evening. overnight tonight heavy rain and then coming up through philadelphia and then new york wednesday and thursday. the storm is still well to the south so we're getting that northeast wind continuing, wind and rain over the n

. >>> we were looking at that skyline of new york dave warren looks like some clouds out there. >> yeahe clouds are moving in. and that will be the warm air coming into new york city. here is what we have right now outside. looks cloudy, and the temperatures are climbing on the east coast, but falling on the west coast, and in the middle is where you have these storms. warm air to the right, cold air to the left. and there is a severe storm moving through the midwest. it has hail and wind gusts close to 60 miles an hour. so that's what we're dealing with in the middle part of the country. to the west there is cold air, and east there is light rain but clouds. now this area of storms will continue to push east so the warm air moves into new england, and gets even colder once the air moves out. there is this front that will move through. this is by thursday. so during the day thursday, the warm air moves up through philadelphia, pennsylvania, and new york, and here is the rain moving through the midwest, holding off on the east coast until thursday night and friday. through chicago wednes

. ♪ >>> i'm meteorologist dave warren, we are dealing with cooler weather here.h colder temperatures now affecting much of the coup try, midwest, and northeast, temperatures dropping down to the freezing mark. the first time that happens each year, that's the freeze warning issued, and that's the end of the growing season many areas here freeze warnings in effect overnight tonight. right now we're into the 40s as the cold air comes in from canada. you start to see these lake-effect snow, these streamers of snow that move across the same area, dumping a lot of snow over one area. we could get inches of snow, in new york, western pennsylvania, and ohio, and there are some freeze watches, indicating it could possibly get down to freezing. first time that will happen here this season, and that is in counties north and west of philadelphia into new jersey and parts of virginia and maryland. here comes the radar over the same area. the wind direction not changing, so we're getting a lot of snow in the same area. temperatures are in the 40s, and it goes over the warmer

. ♪ >> it's meteorologist dave warren, we're looking at texas now, more rain is expected and that willd to more flooding. this area is not moving, so there is a wide area under a flash flood watch. right now the rain is over that area with the watch, there are even a few warnings in effect, very heavy rain moving through south texas. this is a front that stalls out and doesn't move. this is the computer forecast here. a line where very heavy rain is expected in the next two or three hours. 53 oklahoma city, 76 in dallas and san antonio is at 78 degrees. a little further north the storm is moving. we're seeing a drop in temperatures in several areas today. rapid city is at 35 degrees, and there's some snow coming down, light snow is expected but enough where an additional one or two inches could lead to additional winter storm warnings in effect. and here is this front moving south and it stalls out there over texas. it will eventually move through the midwest and northeast. ahead of that temperatures will climb into the 60s and 70s. the computer forecast shows the snow clearing out, an

. ♪ >>> i'm meteorologist dave warren we're starting off here in the northern plains where the temperaturesdropped quite bathe. right now 33 in minneapolis, and chicago up to 38. so certainly a cold morning there, and that cooler air is slowly pushing east, and as it moves through pennsylvania, new york, we're getting some light rain as this front moves through. some very heavy rain expected over the next 24 to 48 hours. you see it is right along the coast there, just off of the coast of delaware, new jersey, new york where the storm develops and moves up the coast. the rain will primarily be along the coast from new york up to boston. temperatures are warm ahead of the front. 60 in washington. new york is up to 64. clearly seeing where that front is through central pennsylvania and moving east. so as it continues to much east the storm develops and the temperatures aren't as warm as they were today. you see barely climbing out of the 50s tomorrow, and that will be with rain which is fairly heavy at times. later today to tonight that storm develops and then rain continues throughout the day

. ♪ >>> i'm meteorologist dave warren.l, we will start in australia today, the satellite shows there is practically no clouds around, it's what is happening at the surface that is a big concern. there are some huge fires there. at least 90 fires right around sydney, and the problem is the wind is gusting at over 90 miles an hour. 90 fires with at least a third of them still out of control. watching that situation closely. you can see the smoke, ash, and fire going right over sydney. this is smoke and ash from all of those fires, and clearly scene from the satellite picture. a lot of the darker gray colors are fires. so we're watching that situation closely. as far as the country goes, denver just climbed above the freezing mark, but this area coming from the north. nice there yesterday, but today temperatures are about 15 degrees colder, and now western kansas and colorado seeing some light snow. right there is a winter weather advisory, but the bluish color, it's a freeze watch is issued, they issue this once per season a

i'm meteorologist dave warren. rain in texas, over a short period of time over a foot in some areas. causing a lot of problems in south texas. this is the radar moisture coming in from the gulf, tropical moisture from the pacific. right here in south texas the area had a foot of rain, estimated by the radar, just south of san antonio, at the sensor, flash flooding occurring in south texas, the flood warnings still in effect and even a few warnings in central to west texas, an area that needs the drought? but a little too much rain causing flooding. a little more storm, south dakota, winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings that are in effect because we're seeing a lot of rain plus snow right over where this storm is developing. just now developing spinning here in nebraska, south dakota, a lot of the rain will begin to push to the east. there is severe weather potential in iowa, that rain by 6:00 is moving out of the dakotas. by tomorrow morning here is the rain just west of chicago. the snow is in south

dave warren, and we're watching closely, typhoon francisco as it passes by guam. the center of the storm circulating this, an area of intense thunderstorms, and these bands that feed this storm. so it's organizing here past guam, and this one is 140 miles west of guam, but look at it now, 145 miles per hour, and it shows a clear intensification here, so this storm continues to intensify. and that's where it is now. moving north-northeast at 12 miles per hour. and it will start to turn to the northwest. this is a concern here because the track could take it right toward japan. and this is over the next five days, so by the middle of next week, it will be 85 miles per hour. but the track, not really where i want to see it. we could see another typhoon in the next week. it's cold in denver, down to the freezing mark, and it will warm up just a bit today. colder air from the north. and there's a light snow in kansas and colorado. and winter weather advisory there, and the temperatures continue to drop. only 45 degrees in wichita, and denver, 44. it doesn't make it thr
