. >> i'm meteorologist dave warren. more severe weather that popped up in the last 24 hours. all these damage reports coming in from the storm prediction center. wind and hail and eventually some flood reports here across the southern plains. more heavy rain will lead to more flooding but want to focus on these tornado reports coming in, actually video that came out of colorado, spinning, there is a tornado, couple of confirmed reports. national weather service goes out and sees how strong those storms were. fortunately things are all clear now. radar is now with that severe weather going through east texas and parts of louisiana and arkansas. more heavy rain over areas that can't hold it. number of inches of rain have already come down. the ground is saturated on top of that. add another three to five inches with this storm sitting over western kansas, that leads to flash flooding. flash flood warning is in effect. few warnings in effect along with the leaf rain there is some wind and hail, conditions continue to push east. rain in western kansas and colorado, that will rema

al jazeera, miami. >> i'm meteorologist dave warren. we're talking about severe weather with the forecast. many reports that came in yesterday. the orange dots there are wind damage. blue is the hail. and that was the one storm that came through arkansas. a few red dots in there indicates tornadoes witnesses or detected by the radar. the severe weather was out there yesterday with wind damage with this line of storms. it's moving through parts of the midwest currently but that will clear out and push to the south. not quite as active as yesterday. but the threat is there in the same area over texas and oklahoma. flooding will be a big problem as the next area of rain could dump inches of rain in the same area. it will not happen in the northeast. many cities in the northeast was going through a cool start this morning warming up to 80 degrees with my pressure. here is this area of rain, though, and another storm developing, the amount of rain looked to be four to six inches over parts of texas and oklahoma. that's why we have flash floo

dave warren. any chance we'll have some of that awesome weather here? >> that's a good idea to do that above the clouds. the threat for more clouds and even storms to develop. hurricane season underway. started this weekend. and typically in june this is where the storms develop. the water temperature warming up a bit and they would track to the north and turn to the northeast. the satellite picture shows it's pretty clear. a cluster of storms there. not likely that should develop. this is start of the season, the typically peak of the season is in september. now the temperature warming up starting to see more activity in the tropics. looking for severe weather, that will be developing tomorrow not today. skies across the middle of the country. temperatures are warming up in nebraska and omaha, 78°, min jams 76, a -- minneapolis 76. storm developing east of the rockies. when you get a storm like this east of the rockies the center of that low is where you get the severe weather. just to the north of that likely to have severe weather tomorrow. storms de

. >> meteorologist dave warren. this was from yesterday, and these are now very intense lines of areas of severe weather. they begin to bow out. you can see how they bow out. that's an indication of very powerful wind and large hail. this was the last 24 hours that area of rain causing flooding, wind damage and hail damage and continuing to push to the east. a large of wind and hail damage reports. a path there with all these reports combine that one area. that was yesterday, the last 24 hours. the area today will be around west virginia, eastern kentucky and tennessee. this is some strong storms developing. now there is the potential for these to become severe so, a watch is possible. nothing issued yet, but it's moving into areas where there is a favorable force. a watch could likely be issued from the storm prediction area over that area for the remainder of the afternoon and early this evening. temperatures are continuing to climb in the upper 80s close to 90 degrees. head to that rain. still very warm with temp

. >> meteorologist: i'm meteorologist dave warren, we're looking at hurricane season, and 80 degrees. that's where the tropical storms begin developing once the water gets that warm. it's under way and there is an area of thunderstorm. the water is warming up but it does not appear to be looking too favorable for the storm to continue to develop. unless we continue to watch the storms develop. we don't see a peak of the tropical activity until august or september. also looking at thunderstorms activity really not developing today. it is tomorrow. a tournament comes off the east coast. the rockies right over colorado, and where the temperatures are start to go climb today if in the 70s. in home hait gets reallyin chicago we have this threat for severe weather tomorrow. storms will be developing. there will be thunderstorms and the potential is there to become severe with very heavy rain, wind and hail possibly even seeing rotation. this is the area throughout the day tomorrow that will watch for these storms to develop. lightening a big problem this time of year. a lot of fatalities oc

our meteorologist, dave warren. >> an extremely elderly long-term resident in the area was attacked in the night. his assailants mutilated him with a chainsaw. this is the victim of the attack, a towering ancient redwood tree. >> it's probably 700 or 1,000 years old. >> the chainsaw wielding thieves were after these. redwood beryls. they grow on the side of the trees of. >> beryl is a type of wood. >> each piece can fetch up to $5,000. beryl bandits have gotten dozens of them and they are undiscovered. >> every time we discover one of the big beryl cut sites, it's shocking. >> the road is lined with shops selling scarfs from burl. he says that he never buys illegally cut wood. >> they need to knock it off. it's hurting my business in the long run. >> two burl bandits have been arrested so far. >> we were able to match burls that had been cut from one of our sites to a giftshop. >> one man has been convicted of nfl theft and vandalism and faces jail time. it's a recent phenomenon, but the first settlers came to the area in the 19th century, and they saw the redwoods not as irreplaceable

. ♪ >>> i'm dave warren. not a bad day to check out. stay inside across the northeast.ea of rain that just came through parts of the mid-atlantic. but showers and strong storms developing behind this area of rain. this will lead to more flooding. strong storms here with very heavy rain on saturated ground will lead to flash flooding. but more lines developing in western pennsylvania. pulling it back here, and look at what we have developing. flash flood watches. this has been issued around washington, baltimore, philadelphia, and new york. this is a flash flood warning. meaning the flooding can happen quickly in poor drainage areas. temperatures are climbing, into the 80s in philadelphia. d.c. at 81. very muggy air is in place thanks to this storm which has pulled up a lot of moisture from the south. rotating around counter clockwise. that will be clearing out in the next 24 hours. high-pressure building in, so a nice start to the weekend. it's drying out, and the rain clears out. on the western side of the high, we have another storm developing. and the northern plains

. >> meteorologist: i'm meteorologist dave warren. it's been an active week with storm after storm that develops pretty much over the same area east of the rockies colorado and western kansas. that's the spin and line of severe weather moving through east texas. a number of reports have come in with wind and hail damage and continues to see that with this line continuing to push south. now this is the same type of storm that has been going through this area over and over the past few days. flood something a big problem. on top of the aamounts of rain we've had expecting more with about 3 to 5 inches of additional on top of saturated ground, so the water can't go anywhere. there is flooding in western nba and kansas as the wind conditions to gust. below is western kansas. we have moisture pulled up through the gulf of mexico. over the next three days hook what happened over the accumulated rainfall in the same area talking about three to five inches of rain possible. and that area of heavy rain will continue to spread to the northeast.

. ♪ >> i'm meteorologist dave warren talking about a lot of rain.sh flooding as well as river flooding all in the midwest. this includes down to parts of western nebraska. there will be severe weather, and you get this quick flooding. this is river flooding. a lot of rain has worked its way in. this activity over the next three days will not help that situation. a few strong storms moving through iowa. and look at this area of rain. friday here is the forecast, north and south dakota down through parts of nebraska and kansas into iowa. here it is on saturday. this is a slow-moving storm, so it dumps a lot of rain over the same area. by sunday, out of minnesota, south through iowa, into parts of missouri where the heaviest rain is. how much? two to three inches of additional rain on top of inches which has come here in the past month. so well above average here. and this is what it does to the river gauges. this is the mississippi river right into minneapolis. and the river is cresting, but remains above the major flood stage. still seeing moderate f

. ♪ ♪ >> meteorologist: i am meet rolls dave warren, the weather story out west is the drought that continues the clouds over nevada. but not much in the way of steffi rainfall that would alleviate the dry conditions there. that's about all the rain that we could squeeze out. farther north still a problem with fire weather now because now there are a few piers fires popping up and very little rain from the west coast. temperatures continuing to climb, close to 100 degrees in california. above average temperatures, very dry weather and the wind is starting to pick up is lead to go this, these fire weather watches issued and the red flag warnings for the dry conditions along with the fires developing. this is smoke in oregon right around big bend here that haze is the smoke from the fire. snow still in some of the mountains, good to see the snow still there. that will eventually melt and provide some moisture, but certainly not a lot. the snow and storms have been below average this year so the drought will continue. too much rain in the southeast. not real severe storm warnings in effect, but

. ♪ ♪ >>> i am meteorologist dave warren.of all that the monsoon normally develops and pushes inland is a little slower this year and causing it to slow down in the east coast th of india te is a cyclone in the arabian sea. hoping the moisture returns and provides some relief to the heat there. it's been slower and things not helping the situation there. showers and storms developing across the northeast of the united states, severe weather will be a problem this afternoon as the wind can pick up as the storms develop. clouds should start to clear up a bit and that will fuel the thunderstorms over the next few hours, temperatures are in to the upper 70s in washington but a little cooler in philadelphia, new york, that cooler air comes in from the northeast, you can see that this time of year, slowly that warm air will try to make its progress north but not making much leeway farther north up in philadelphia. heat and humidity. that is the high humidity which goes all the way up the coast here. thanks to the storm and just to

the threat of those tornadoes in the midwest is lens, but dave warren it's safe to say we are not outthe woods yet. >> meteorologist: correct. but there is good news, could some some more severe weather today. these are the reports from yesterday, all of the storm damage combined mostly really around the dakotas with the tornadoes but there was plenty of wind and hail damage as women. video coming in from yesterday shows these tornadoes there, mainly north and south dakota, this was coming in from yesterday. certainly an active day with a number of tornado reports as well as wind and hail damage. but we may not see tornadoes today. there is a slight chance that some of these storms rotate, but wind and hail certainly the potential for the damage today. this is the radar plus the clouds now. we can see the storms firing up here across minnesota, down through iowa, there is still flash flood warnings in effect from all the rain that we have had yesterday and a watch remains in effect because the potential is there for some flash flatting. in the warm sector of this area of low pressure

. >>> the weather that created tornadoes in colorado is moving southeast, dave warren has more. dave. >> this line of storms, through oklahoma, texas, colorado and southeast, one or two warnings in place as that line continues to move south. this storm is lagging back behind it. a lot of rain still coming down so flooding will be the big problem. when you get these warnings coming in, storm prediction center just one day, last night the red dots are tornado reports. sometimes they can be with the same tornado as it continues to move through region but a number of reports in colorado again and that line continuing to push east through oklahoma and texas and now that's where it is, as the storm continues to spin in western kansas. this is just one of many storms that we've seen here over the last week and one, two or three of them coming through this area over the past seven days. that's why this is a pretty impressive number. reports in the past sefng days, 84 tornado reports, over a thousand wind damage and over 700 hail reports. a very stormy week. it's uncharacteristic to see

dave warren is here with a look. dave. >> at least it's moving, though. they continue to move through tennessee and kentucky. you can see a well-defined line here, and that's the severe weather we're watching now. wind damage is likely with these storms as they continue to push east through the state of tennessee and across the southeast. a watch in place in the yellow airs with warnings in effect in central tennessee. the storms had the history of producing that wind damage. wind gusts over 60 miles per hour. once the storms clear out, then flooding is a big problem. scattered flood warnings behind the rain. it will eventually begin to clear out, but we have more severe weather in the forecast over the next 24 hours. this entire system will slowly push off to the north centering that low right over the great lakes, but the severe weather tomorrow right in western pennsylvania and more expected as the moisture returns from the gulf of mexico over texas and oklahoma. not much of a break there. >> not at all. dave, appreciate it. thank you. >>> a new ad fro
