meteorologist dave warren is tracking the system.what can we expect to see. >> one thing will lead to another. they are dealing with it now. alaska is an impressive storm. it transitioned to a tropical storm, to a nontropical storm. this is what it looks like with the satellite picture. a powerful area, low pressure, more intense than sandy. the pressure is 9:27. we'll delay the number that came in. >> areas of fronts extending out from it. the area of damaging wind expands when something like this happens, when the storms transition. it's over the barring sea. here is the powerful wind bringing the waves and most likely damning winds to alaska. here is what it will do to the upper level winds, pushing them up into canada, and when you go well up into the coast to the urks it comes down east of the rockies, it's a weather pattern where you get the shots of arctic air coming in. that will be the case monday and cues. we are looking at high temperatures into the teens monday and tuesday, and the cold air spreading east wednesday and th

let's turn to dave warren, meteorologist. >> rain and snowfall. this is the heavy rain coming down to california, with a storm that is moving in. a lot of rains. this is areas buried under an extreme drought. it is going from northern california. this is the latest video coming in. it shows what is happening. moisture from the pacific. rain in the north, higher elevations. you need the snow to build up, it feeds the reservoirs. the rain is pushing to the south. there's a snow coming down across the mountain. more is expected. this will all continue to push off to the north. bringing moisture to the north-west, with rain and snow. talking about the north-east. the storm mooing, developing -- moving, developing, clearing out. there's heavy snow in main. it is clear across the north-east, with high pressure. it's cold. a lot of snow on the roadways. a stationary front. there could be an issue in texas and chicago. with heavy rain in the central part of the country. >> president obama heads to detroit. friday, the president was in rhode island speakin

it is moving, but has not advanced more than inches in two weeks >>> i'm dave warren, we have winter weather across the northern planes, north and south dakota. a storm warping, close to a -- warning, close to a foot of snow is possible. this is the leading edge of cold arctic air, thanks to the storm in the barring sea. low pressure, an intense storm. what it is doing is giving wind and damage to alaska. but it is creating a weather pattern which is lifting the heights there in the pacific, and east of the rockies we'll see the cold air pushing south. this is what it looks like over the next three days. this is a ridge of high pressure developing along the pacific, low pressure on either side, and the cold air moving in from canada. this reinforces a weather pattern. not much changing over the next four are five dies. there's bitter cold air coming in, tuesday and wednesday, the front going down to texas and parts of the south-east. as far as the high temperatures go, teens and 20s, highs on tuesday. by wednesday the cold air spreads east. it will be as cold as we get. a little warm

. >> dave warren joins us now with a look at that. >> these were very, very close races and if you look at the past, in 1960, kennedy and nixon, high pressure gave very nice weather so a big turnout here. these were the states that went toward kennedy, very close race here that suede the election. if there had been rain, a lower turnout, it may have been gone in nixon's favor. in florida, there was heavy rain during the day, limiting turnout in some areas. it was very close. they feel if it was nicer weather there, could have been more democratic votes in that state. it does play an important factor. that lower turnout would be those who tend to vote democratic. undecided voters are less likely to turn out when there's rainy weather. it was stormy weather this year in georgia where we had the snowstorms and a poor response there they felt for a lot of the mayor of atlanta and governor of georgia and it happened in chicago in 1977, but weather could influence people to change their votes. >> georgia is were you ever those key places. >> yes. >> dave warren, thank you. >> for those of you
