fox 29's dave schratwieser live for us at temple university hospital. dave, we thank you very much.et's get out to the scene now. where this all happened at 21st and lehigh at game symptom let's join chris o'connell. chris? >> reporter: iain, obviously this investigation is in full gear here now at 21st and lehigh. dozens of police officers now on scene some of them interviewing some witnesses taking ballistics measurements and things hike that. let me take you in to where our vantage point now. right in front of uh-uh see the crime scene unit and many officers post the around the perimeter of this shopping center. it was about 4:40 when the call came out that an officer was down and then police radio traffic just exploded from there there. that officer was immediately -- taken to temple university hospital whereas you heard dave schratwieser say he is in crave condition after being shot in the head that those radio transmissions we heard it was just a matter of trying to find those suspects. police did a very good quick job in apprehending two of the suspects. one of them was taken

fox 29's dave schratwieser live outside of police headquarters tonight. dave? >> reporter: chris i asked police commissioner charles ramsay at a news conference today if he thought this was a death penalty case. he said i'm not the jury but i would say yes. tonight the two suspects are charged with first degree murder. they are in custody. but the main crux of that news conference today was all the efforts that officer wilson went through to save lives. the officer was out and out her row and a warrior. he fought to the very very end firing at both of them. >> reporter: that's the way police described officer robert wilson's valiant efforts during a vicious gun battle inside a game stop store thursday with two suspects who have now been charged with first degree murder. police say officer wilson saved many lives. >> there were civilians there. i counted four behind the counter, a couple in line. he stepped away so that there was no -- the shots weren't going directly at them. they were going toward him. >>> police say the 30-year-old father of two sons was insi

dave. >>> from the hospital to where unfold the these images from earlier show the scene just after the shooting at a game stop on 21st street and lehigh avenue. police say a robbery turned into a gun battle that ultimately killed officer wilson. chris o'connell has been at that scene throughout the evening. chris? >> reporter: well, lucy that game stop store you were talking about is still very much an active crime scene here at 21st and lehigh here in north philadelphia. many detectives investigators have the very tough task tonight of investigating the murder of one of their own. what started as a robbery ended in the murder of philadelphia police officer robert wilson iii. police say wilson and his partner were at this game stop at 21st and lehigh about 4:45. that's when two men armed with a 9-millimeter and 45 caliber hand guns walked in and announced robbery and started shooting. that led to an exchange of gunfire in the store. officer wilson was shot multiple times. one of the suspec

fox 29's dave schratwieser is near that scene right now. dave? >> reporter: lucy crime scene investigators be homicide detectives are at the rear of a home here in the 4700 block of frankford avenue. you'll have to excuse we're underneath the el the trip going over. they're back there digging in a shall hoe grave that they believe could contain a 39-year-old female at the back of this home here. this all unfolded around 1:00 o'clock this afternoon when police were call to the scene. and began investigateing. at that time a man ran from the scene. he was pursued by police and at one point got into a confrontation with police. and then was tased. we spoke to a man who says he was on the street when all of this unfolded. >> i seen a couple of arguing and then they were like -- there was a physical dispute. domestic dispute they went back into the lot and next thing i guess the continue continued to dispute or get high or whatever they were doing next thing the guy comes out and the girl they have came out and the they call the cops then locked the g

fox 29's dave kinchen is near the seen in holland. dave, what do you know?> reporter: lucy tragedy unfoldingunfolding here in holland pa. police tell us a husband and wife are dead in what they're calling a murder suicide in fact investigators tell us they are still on the scene and in the process of notifying family members here at the house. let's go to some video right now. both victims were in their mid 60s and shot in the head according to a neighbor who told fox 29 off camera that he saw the shooting aftermath with the family member of one of the victims going into the house. the two were found in their master bedroom. the woman in the bed. her husband lying on the floor again both shot in the head and one neighbor said off camera the deceased owned a july row store on jewelers row in center city philadelphia. we were told by that neighbor that the couple was supposed to travel downtown to center city to fix a plumbing issue at that store as well as visit the husband's mother on this her 93rd birthday. we're toll that the family new something was wrong

fox 29's dave schratwieser is at the scene.ave. >> reporter: lucy wild seen here in nicetown tonight. it all started around 7:20 again showing the dangers philadelphia police come up against almost every single day. roll you some video. 20 shots fired at two separate shooting scenes. the first shooting seep, 17th and kayuag around 7:20. a gunman opened fire into a van. that van riddled with gunfire. one victim shot there. as police arrived on the scene a second man exited that van and began to run from police. they chased him a block. chief inspector scott smalls picks up the chase from there. >> the officer ordered the male to stop, drop the weapon show his hands stop running. the male refused. he turned, he point the the weapon in the direction of both officers and that's when one officer discharged his weapon. striking the suspect in the torso. the suspect is shot in the groin area left torso and his left shoulder. he collapsed in the 1700 block of glava street when he fell he not only dropped the weapon witness extended mag

. >> reporter: good morning, dave. he showed up early this morning still in shock learning what had happened. he said that both men are young. one of them is a father. he was relieved to hear that police had detained a person related to this case possibly. the shooting happened around 4:30 last night near a park in the north side of the city. livermore police say three men got into a verbal argument and someone called 911. by the time offices arrived they found two men shot. one of them already dead. the second man died at the hospital. the shooter police believe fled if a vehicle. >> it is an isolated incident. it sounds like something occurred between them. >> tragedy. you know. violence that needs to stop. whether too many guns or too much violence. >> a friend of the victim didn't want to go into many details as to what led up to the shooting but around 9:00 officers received a tip as to the possible shooters location. they detained a man near the spring town golf course but wouldn't release any additional details.

fox 29's dave schratwieser is live in front of police headquarters with the new information. dave? >> reporter: lucy homicide detectives like to call this direction they are now trying to identify three young men possibly teenagers who they believe attempted to rob james stoleman last thursday night as he was out walking his dog molly with just a flashlight in his hand when he was shot and killed killed. they now also say this looks like it was a random crime. >> at the end of the day we will department if i these three individuals and arrest shortly. >> reporter: police say the break in this case came from the public and intense detective work over the past five days. that now has investigators bearing down on the killers of james stoleman last thursday night. >> if these thee unidentified males saw our victim walked up to him attempted to rob him and somewhere along the lines it went tragically wrong. >> reporter: investigators say the three young males in dark clothing followed stillman as he headed down wood crest avenue to walk his dog molly carrying a flashlight. they believe

meteorologist dave warren is here to tell us how cold and for how long, dave. >> yeah, you want to go out and feel these record temperatures tomorrow morning, watch that first step. anything that was slushy today with that sunshine is frozen now. this is the temperature map from tonight. right along i-95 temperatures a little warmer than the surrounding suburbs. look at these numbers already single digits in a few areas. millville four, nine allentown, seven lancaster. that's with that fresh coating of snow on the ground, makes these temperatures really drop and the numbers on the left are the forecasted low temperatures, on the right the records. many within a degree or two or below. so, we'll see more records set tomorrow morning. tomorrow afternoon a little more sunshine but a few thin clouds. might even see a flurry especially to the areas north and west. here's what we have coming you up. first off you see those thin clouds. a cold start tomorrow. it will be the coldest that we're talking about in the seven-day forecast. so, if you can get through tomorrow morning you'll be okay.

>> reporter: dave, good morning to you. the car that was being pursued here earlier this morning had been carjacked in the city of oakland. there was a total of five people inside of it. this is still an active investigation involving the chp and oakland police department. and you can see a chp officer looking inside that white lexus. that is the car that was being chased this morning. five people inside. all but one have been taken into custody here at this location. let me show you video of the man that was behind the wheel. chp officers started chasing this white lexus in contra costa county. eventually the car made its way into the neighborhood and that is when it stopped. all five people bailed out and oakland police moved in. they helped out chp with a yard to yard search and took four people into custody. as to how chp picked up this stolen car, i'm being told they apparently used the gps signal that was coming from the car's satellite radio to get coordinates and figure out where the stolen car was and that is what

fox 29's dave kinchen is live outside the warehouse tonight. dave? >> iain, fire crews are still here 13 hours after this blaze. they are dousing hot spots. fire investigators they're here, too, trying to find out how all of this started. in the meantime this whole community had quite a health scare in the air today. >>> skyfox over the scene as smoke rises into the air across the lehigh valley for the first half of the day. it was coming from the fabricators sheet metal processing factory on among chunk road in bethlehem. three alarm fire kept firefighters busy for several hours. >> the smoke did cover part of the downtown area and a lot of homes on the avenues. it went into the allentown area. >> reporter: thick clouds of smoke hugged the ground below prompting authorities to issue a shelter in place advisory telling people to stay inside and close their doors and windows with concern over potential chemicals in the air. >> our 911 center was getting inundated with a lot of calls that there's smoke at our house. >> i went outside and it smelled rea

. >> reporter: good morning to you, dave. the mother and child were in the crosswalk last night when they were hit according to the chp. here is the crosswalk they were in off of westbound tennyson road to northbound 880. as you can imagine, this is an area where cars pick up speed as drivers head on the freeway. this is where the bomb and 1- year-old son were -- this is where the woman and 1-year-old son were walking across the street. the son was in the stroller when the crash happened at 7:00. the white suv slammed into the 21-year-old mother and 1-year- old son, both left with major injuries. the driver who hit them was a 22-year-old woman from hayward that stayed here at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. it doesn't look like she was under the influence at the time of the crash. the chp will be looking at whether the time of day and setting sun may have contributed to the crash and the chp is trying to figure out how fast the suv was going as the driver entered the freeway. >> at this point we are unable to

>> reporter: dave, good morning to you. first of all we understand that there was some sort of relief here at the dow chemical plant in pittsburg. we are told it could cause problems for people living nearby. especially those with respiratory sensitivity. people living in pittsburg and antioch are being told to stay inside if you experience irritation to their eyes or throats and rinse any irritated areas with water. we did see a hazardous materials truck from the fire department arrive here at this location. we have not been able to reach anyone with the dow chemical plant thus far this morning. this is video of the plant we are looking at here. this is a level 2 advisory. the county issued this alert at 3:00 this morning. it said that most people will not be effected by whatever has been released into the atmosphere. there have been other health alerts related to the dow chemical plant in the past. in 2003 there was a problem with the chlorine tank. again this morning another alert in place. we are working to find out exa

dave, good morning to you.ers were pursuing the stolen car that had been carjacked and they were able to figure out exactly ideal it was using the gps signal from the cars satellite radio. they sotted that car somewhere in contra costa county. officers that chased the car through the caldecott tunnel here into oakland. you can see the left front tire is simply gone. the chp says during the chase the driver slammed into a wall on the freeway and lost the tire and the rim but he kept right ongoing with sparks flying as the car went down the freeway. the car then tushed into a cul- de-sac and and that is when all six people jumped out and ran. they searched the area. the adult driver was arrested found hiding in a backyard. four other juveniles were detained. we talked with the father of a 16-year-old girl who was one of the people riding in that car during this pursuit. he showed up at the scene to pick up his daughter and told us he is disappointed in her. >> that hurts me. that has me real upset right now. that
