i'm david baker, 1101 sutter.pair facility that was built that way actually in the 20s. there were four items that we studied in the e.i.r. we got through that. one of the -- that involved suggesting the height zones. there's a historic building that it faces, and there's a 130-foot height limit there, and even though vertical additions are not frowned upon, we decided not to do that. we modulated the massing for the context, next, and we kind of tugged and pushed down the various towers to break up the mass. next. so this is the existing view of the neighborhood, and there is the building. next. so this is looking on sutter street to the west. you can see the historic building in blue. so this is ground level, and i'll go through the various uses on the ground area. first, there's a common area, gym, lobby, that goes with the common area. then, there's commercial spaces that's slated to a restaurant. this backing up a little bit shows the heald automotive college, and this is expanding the sidewalk a little bit b

with that, we bring in david asman and gerry baker. great to have you here with us. thanks very much. >> great to be here. >> martha: president biden says, you know, this is all putin's fault and the big mean oil companies. is he right? >> no. of course he's not. oil prices have been going up for all kinds of reasons. they hit a low point at the bottom of the pandemic and demand has recovered. in the united states in particular, we have an administration that is explicitly and publicly committed to, they say, ending fossil fuel production. they have gone about it rhetorically and policy saying that they want to discourage fossil fuel production because of the climate change agenda. everybody hears that. people in the world hear it. they know what the u.s. plan is. it doesn't make any sense to say as they have been doing, you heard peter doocy say, the u.s. oil and gas association saying they're going around the world to increase oil production. now they're blaming domestic oil companies for leaving oil in the ground. there's no question what is the downward pressure

david: one of my former partners at carlisle was jim baker.was considered the gold standard of how to be chief of staff but he did not like that job very much and he wound up as secretary of treasury and a secretary of state. do you have any aspirations to those jobs? ron: i don't think so. i'm going to finish my tenure here. i'm going to take a month and sleep and then i will figure out what i will do next. secretary baker, i got to know him a little bit during the florida recount. he has been unbelievably gracious. he sent me the kindest note when i got this job. he has sent me a couple note since then. he is such a wonderful person. he is the gold standard of doing this job. i could not even aspire to that. i try to the best i can every day. david: whenever you do finish this position as chief of staff and a friend calls you and says i have been offered the job to chief of staff, would you tell him or her to take that job or not? ron: i would tell anyone to take this job. it is a hard job but it is a unique opportunity to work with first of

david, who still have to pump in order to become public or get a bid. >> or actually just generate a lot of cash flow. >> they need cash flow. >> baker hughes, rig counts have been inching up. does that mean anything? >> it's still private companies. the big guns are represented by devon, the ceo says we're going to ramp up now the forward curve shows that oil will be lower a year from now, so we're end up spending our money unwisely and people will sell our stocks. devon is another one that's great. i think these companies really got religion about being reckless plus, by the way, the cost of a well, just like a lot of things, like building a house, the raw costs have gone up so much >> right there will be a lot of political pressure saying this is really the result of policy as opposed to the desire of shareholders that is keeping production from what it could otherwise be it would seem that that might not be correctly placed. e we talk about it every day, the desire for buybacks and return of capital through buybacks and/or dividends is really what's motivating many of these companies not to increase production dramatically. >> totally right in theo
