[applause] >> thank you and i want to thank our host at the national constitution center. it's an institution that i am really plead pleased is involved in we are doing more collaboratively with this excellent institution over the past few years and it is a pleasure to be here. it's a pleasure to be here with a very old and dear friend of mine, david baron. we have known each other for almost 25 years since we were in law school together. judge barron, you have done, you do a number of things over the past couple of decades, working at the highest levels of government and researching and then as a scholar at harvard law school. your research touches on a number of areas including in this book, and i guess they wanted to start by asking you to talk about what led you to write this book over the past many years given the different rolls in which you work. how does this book reflect your thinking over this long. of time? >> thank you for all of you to coming on a day when you had reason
