. >> in your interview you told quite a bit about david barton.e is, what role has he played in shaping this american evangelical space, and how it impacts or touches upon our politics? >> mike johnson told about the profound influence that david barton has had on him for decades now. david barton is a name that is familiar to evangelicals and familiar to evangelical historians. he's a pseudo-historian. incredibly popular in evangelical spaces. in the 1980s, he founds an organization called wall builders, which purports that the separation of church and state is a myth. and he's written numerous books and lead seminars and really advanced this notion across the evangelical world. so that, if you listen to christen radio, you'll hear these ideas. if you go into a christian bookstore, we'll encounter these ideas. basically he argues that jefferson didn't establish the separation of church and state to keep the church from influencing the state. he was simply trying to protect the church from the state. and he argued that the nation is founded on god

johns said that the popular self styled hist david barton who has questioned the constitutionality ofwhat do you make of that analysis? >> there's certainly no question that the new speaker, johnson, is very, very conservative on the social issues. i think over the long term, for the republican party, it must become a much more socially tolerant party. you know, taking these very hard positions on, you know, lgbt rights, on abortion, especially on abortion, at this moment, that's not a pathway to victory for republicans. they're on the wrong side and some of these issues. and as the country is becoming more diverse religiously, i think that will be a very difficult position to sustain long term. so, i get he's, the energy of the base right now, very hard question conservative element. but, look, donald trump is their standard there. he is an evangelical. i just think this is a right path for the party as it's wanting to embrace more people and bringing more people, it's gonna be hard to do that with this kind of christian nationalists move. >> former congressman charlie dent, thank yo

david. >> julia, thank you. >>> our next guest saying some of the big technology retailers such as amazon are benefitting already from those very deals that julia was reporting on. why don't we start there, bartonvices, what has amazon told us so far in terms of the success they're seeing with this click through? >> well, amazon hasn't told us a ton. we do cover pinterest, which was early on and i think is very well exposed given their focus on kind of e-commerce as a core part of their content. and they have been very kind of optimistic. again, not a lot of numbers, but i think this is a great theme. we're recommending amazon, we're recommending pinterest. and this is part of that theme. certainly, for amazon, their real strengths in recent quarters have been addver tizing and third party service. those growing 26% and 20% roughly year over year in the third quarter. these type of arrangements i think hold the possibility for certainly the third party services and maybe even the advertising some acceleration in those great revenue lines for amazon. >> and large margin businesses here, i mean, advertising alone, just to put a point on it, correct? >> yeah, i mean, certainly, third party service
