there is supposed to be a separation of campaign and super pac but a pro clinton super pac run by david brockt after bernie sanders this week in a pretty aggressive way calling him hugo chavez. bernie sanders took offense and does what every politician does immediately started raising money. he said it was the kind of onslaught i expected to see from the koch brothers. if hillary clinton is saying publicly she's not worried. are her people? >> i don't think they're worried in the sense they think bernie is going to be the nominee. they're worried he can draw a clear contrast with her and someone who can appeal to a big segment of the democratic party. it also is difficult to figure out how exactly she goes after him. that's going to be her big challenge. >> that's her big challenge. i talked with some of her advisors this weekend and was pressing them on what are they going to do? go aggressive and call him out. they say no. they feel like bernie sanders supporters essentially like hillary clinton in the end and folks i've talked to seem to match up with that. think think it would only just b

later, david brock, i asked what are you saying about bernie sanders? what is your point?joining us now from new hampshire is ed henry, so ed, hillary, are they saying anything about the bernie sanders comparison? are they blaming that on brock? >> no. what is going on and aiming at that this leadership is trying to do the hard-hitting attacks on bernie sanders and joe biden as well. the vice president overheard conversation on amtrak cell phone. and nobody is denying that that was dead. so there are signs biden is going to get in. you have hillary clinton's campaign saying well, we're giving you time to grieve. i'm sure it will change the race, too. we don't want to attack it. people on the out side, in private rooms are doing the attacking. the super pack meeting for the clinton team is saying if biden gets in, he's not going to win. so they want to do attacks behind closed doors saying bernie is a nice guy. they're trying to look like there is some pause. >> are they going to turn negative? i mean, if so, just bernie sanders or biden as well? >> the -- they can't go lon

let's talked about it with david brock, founder of media matters for america and author of "killing theer." and republican stat grist mercedes slatt. mercedes, you first. hillary clinton, jeb bush suffering from the same problem, plunging favorbility ratings. hillary is down to 42% from 62%. jeb is down to 8% from 21%. is there anything else anything they can do to turn these numbers around? >> well, you know, you have to take them separately, i think. for hillary clinton, obviously, the e-mail scandal, the fbi investigations, the sort of drip, drip, drip on her e-mails have really been -- have really hit her campaign very hard. and the fact that it took her so long to apologize and then she gave sort of this insincere apology. i think it really had a very negative impact on her campaign as we've seen n these poll numbers, especially among women that are having a hard time feeling that they can actually trust her. now, again, that can all change, as we know in this very insane campaign season. with jeb bush, it's a different story there. we have, obviously, the rise of, you know, the en

now, there's one, david brock, who is a well known defender of hillary clinton, is leading the chargegainst the mainstream media. he has a book out. particularly he's taking aim at "the new york times." but i think, jon, you do need to separate that from the rest of the reporters who are covering the e-mail story that is drowning out a lot of other things that she's saying and doing in her campaign. but the true measure is, of course, i would say how much of what she's doing is being drowned out in new hampshire, iowa and south carolina. that's, that would be be the main issue for her. we have a poll showing that she's basically now only neck and neck with bernie sanders. jon: yep. >> but i don't think that there is media out to get her in any organized way. i think that's ridiculous. i think that she has a leading defender, as i said, taking on "the new york times." jon: rich, in an earlier clinton administration it was a vast right-wing conspiracy. is there something like that going on these days, maybe even a left-wing conspiracy that is causing hillary clinton's problems? >> yeah.

i think weighs really going on is that this leadership pac on the outside with operatives like david brocke trying to do the hard hitting attacks on bernie sanders and by the way, joea biden as well. the vice president who may get into this race, there are signs just in the last 24 hours, overheard him on his cell phone saying he's 100% in. this will happen. and nobody is really denying that that was said. so there are signs biden will get in. and you have hillary clinton's campaign itself saying, oh, we're giving him time to grieve. i'm sure it will change the race if he gets in. but people on the outside in private rooms are doing the attacking. john pedesta in a super pac meeting for the clinton team, saying if he gets in, he's not going to win. he's not really the new flavor. so they want to do the attacks behind closed doors and in public say oh, berry is a nice guy. we don'tos have any quarrel with him 'cause they're trying to look like they're staying positive. >> are they going to turn negative, the campaign itself any time soon? if so, just bernie sanders or biden as well? >> repo

except i learned something new from david brock who wrote the biography of gordon moore, moore's law, recently. and brock was -- and this is in my book because i just thought it was the most wonderful piece of research. he was in the archives looking through shockley's papers, and he stumbled across this three-page memo that shockley wrote in, i think, '51 or '52, probably '52, before he left bell labs. and he made this impassioned case for bell labs to build something he called an automatic, trainable robot. and you read this thing, as a matter of fact, rod brooks who started rethink robotics baxter sort of stripped -- he just gave his employees the text of this document, and nobody could tell, you know, what the date was. i mean, he really sort of laid out the notion of what a device like baxter or like whatever google might be doing now. and so the connection is that makes it important for silicon valley is he went to beckman of beckman instruments. he didn't go to him to ask him to make a transistor company, he asked him to make a robotics company. i thought that was striking. and

i interviewed david brock who's associated with that group and asked him, what are you saying about bernie wouldn't say. for me, it's illustration of the worst of body worlds for them. bernie sanders raises money off it, gets the high ground. i don't think they did any damage to him whatsoever. >> you call it mccarthy-ite tactics? >> yeah. >> okay. >> meanwhile, hillary clinton mentioned joe biden on the trail yesterday. all but blaming him for a controversial senate vote that she made back in 2001. the vote was for a bill being pushed by credit card and banking interests and would have made it harder for people to get debt relief through bankruptcy. when she was asked about it at a diner in new hampshire yesterday she reportedly said, "it was vice president biden who was the senator from delaware and the republican cosponsor that i was talking with, so i said i'd support it even though i opposed it before." >> oh dear lord. >> oh, man. >> what? chuck todd, does that mean she voted for funding the war before she voted against it? >> look, obviously it was trying to do a little subtle remin

a brock buster deal is dealing with anheuser-busch working on a takeover for sab miller. shares of both companies are soaring. anheuser is up by 8%. david faber is here with details. a lot of hurdles for this still to happen though, right, david? >> that is true, mandy. it would, of course, be one of the largest deals of all time if it did. there has been no shortage of speculation about this possibility for years. but this morning the clock did actually begin to tick, if you will, on budweiser making this bid for sab when sab came out with a press release saying they had been contacted. under uk takeover law, 28 days is all they have unless it is extended by sab in which to make the formal bid for the company. budweiser has said we are only going to move ahead if we get a recommended deal. meaning they're not going to make a hostile bid. it will be one that the board of sab feels is appropriate, and it will move ahead after that. now, the key for sab may be very well focused on its two largest shareholders, altri, which owns 27% and the santa domingo company who own 14%. they have a significant board representation as well. they may al
