[applause] supervisor campos: thank you very much. it is truly an honor to be here. i am here in my capacity not only as a supervisor but also as the chair of the county transportation authority. i want to acknowledge our vice- chair, supervisor scott wiener, who is in the audience. we work with the mta, and our responsibilities are many, but it includes long-term transportation planning for the city and county, something that requires the agency worked very closely with the mta. we are also the body that oversees the transportation sales tax for the city and county of san francisco, and i am very proud we have a very strong working relationship with the mta. i want to work knowledge our new director of transportation, ed reiskin, who has hit the ground running and really brought in a new wins. the fact is that for so many of us, muni is what makes it possible for us to live in the city, allows us to get to and from work, allows our kids to get to and from school. even though there are some issues that people have with the system, i t

[applause] my spanish is not as good as david campos. if i went to law school with both of them, i would have had a lot more fun than what i experienced. it i want to make sure you know that tonight we are listening. we do have a situation that's improving every six months. we get some reports. i've been working really hard with the supervisors to create an investment-friendly city, a city that welcomes job creation. jobs for everybody, not just for downtown folks. i'm not here in the neighborhoods, also, and making sure that our board and i care about the neighborhood corridors. we're out here on events like sunday street's premier out here for all kinds of different reasons, because we care about every single neighborhood in the city. we want all of you to feel the richness of the city. it is not just for downtown. it never has been. i want you to know that and what you to know we listened very carefully. we are getting better. guess what? we still got a deficit. we have a two-year budget process. we are challenging ourselves a little
