congressman david cicilline, democrat of rhode island, served in congress for over a decade isn't, impeachment manager in the second trial of donald trump, and joins me right now. congressman, how do you think about a future in which kevin mccarthy wields the gavel as speaker of the house, and your republican colleagues control the body that you know serve? >> well, i think it would be, obviously, very alarming for anyone who cares about our democracy, and cares about the freedoms we enjoy citizens of this great country. we don't need to wonder whether or not kevin mccarthy, as speaker of the house, will certify an election of donald trump ran, and lost. we already know, he did it, he did it already. donald trump lost, kevin mccarthy led 147 of his colleagues to refuse to certify the election. as you mentioned, only nine voted to reform the electoral count act. all of those members, either retiring, or beating their primaries. so, we have the republican party, committed to their own power, to bring in a trumpist, maga group. getting into power, at all costs. in terms of our freedom, they talk

david's question. >> great, thank you. i will turn it back to our panel, our briefers. >> do you want me to jump in on the first question? yes, thanks very much for your questions, representative cicillineppose the first part around whether or not we take -- westminster, i don't see a great deal, certainly rupture is an opportunity to see these issues and embrace -- the kinds of points we've been discussing this morning. those that are lining up to fill boris's boots i wish i could say that i have great hope that there's going to be a change of heart, but i think there is no room whatsoever for complacency. we'll watch closely to see how things pan out when the new leader is appointed, and when we have a cabinet appointed. but i think it's unlikely there's going to be any great, they're certainly not room for complacency. we'll need to keep full pressure to counter the false narrative that has been put out there, and to defend the rights and needs of victims and survivors. the underlying issues, if allen and mark want to address the second part of your question about underlying issues. >> if i could just jump in before mark. i know mark hasn't made his presence yet. we'll come back in a
