and that's it from me for now, but dojoin david cornock on bbc parliament on monday night at 11pm forrthy, goodbye. hello there. well, you probably noticed over the last couple of days the weather has been a bit unsettled with lots of showers. certainly friday no exceptiont to that theme. you can see the extent of all those showers moving across the uk, and they brought with it some dramatic skies. a double rainbow spotted around the southend—on—sea area of essex, and a little bit further south in sussex we had this dramatic bolt of lightning coming from one of the storm clouds with some hail mixed in as well. over the next few hours, showers moving eastwards across england, only slowly clearing here. the showers will then tend confined to the north—east of scotland, where it will stay cloudy all night. temperatures 3—7 degrees. now, as far as the weekend goes, we are going to see an improvement in the weather. spells of sunshine and for quite a few of us, it will stay dry. showers around, particularly across the north and east, but with lighter winds, it will feeljust a little bit wa

and that's it from me for now, but dojoin david cornock on bbc parliament on monday night at 11pm for goodbye. hello. it has turned into a predominantly dry sunday across most parts of the uk, but that is not the whole story. there has been some patchy rain toward the south, perhaps more notably, some really hefty downpours further north, some of those will continue into the evening. the showers most plentiful across eastern and southern parts of scotland, showers tending to fade from northern ireland but they will continue across north—eastern parts of england, with thunder and lightning likely. could see quite a lot of rain in a short space of time if you catch one of these downpours, some showers also getting down into east anglia. further south, quite a lot of cloud on the chart, keeping a fair amount across southern areas through tonight. still one or two of those showers are lingering close to the east coast, the further north and west you are across the uk is where the skies will be clearest and temperatures lowest. parts of scotland and northern ireland likely to see a touch o

from me, david cornock, bye for now. hello.ek with highs of 26 or 27 degrees in the south. a lot of dry weather as well, but the further north and west you are across the uk, the greater the chance of seeing some outbreaks of rain. that's certainly the case on sunday — this frontal system passing across the northern half of the country, but that front running up against this area of high pressure, which will be keeping things dry down to the south, and the squeeze between that high pressure area and the frontal systems pushing in from the west will drive the air up from the south — an increasingly warm feel over the coming days. so, for sunday, we see some rain across the northern half of the uk. parts of north wales, northern england, just the odd spot of drizzle, which should tend to peter out during the day, and the rain across northern ireland and northern scotland will tend to fizzle around lunchtime but we expect more wet weather from the west into the late afternoon. further south, we'll see some spells of hazy sunshine,

and that's it from me for now, but dojoin david cornock on bbc parliament on monday night at 11pm for, alicia mccarthy, goodbye. hello there. well, we may have had to wait right till end of april, but yesterday's storms were quite impressive. the radar picture shows just how widespread those showers were, nowhere immune from seeing several downpours through the day. but some of the showers were particularly impressive. from this mammatus cloud — the sign of very active convection in wiltshire — to pea—sized hailfalling from those thunderclouds in buckinghamshire, and further north in scotland, we had this funnel cloud dropping from stormclouds in dumfries and galloway. now, over the next few hours there are still a few showers dotted at around northern england, wales, northern ireland and northern scotland, too. it's not too cold, though, for most of us. temperatures around 4—7 celsius. low pressure then still in charge of our weather and as we head into friday and it's another day where nowhere is immune from seeing a shower or two. even across souther england there will be some furt

from me, david cornock, bye for now. hello. the last couple of nights. last night in northern ireland, it was down to minus six degrees celsius, the coldest may night there in nearly a0 years. this morning, most major towns and cities will be generally above zero, but it is cold air that's sitting on top of us at the moment. you can see the pale blue colours there. the really cold air‘s to the north of us, but we're certainly in that chilly air mass. we'll have to wait before the warmer air from the southern climes arrives, and that's not going to happen for a few more days. so, the forecast for friday morning, well, early hours of the morning shows some clear weather, but also patchy cloud. temperatures in norwich close to freezing. that does mean a ground frost outside of town, but more generally speaking, we're talking around 4—6 degrees. so, a bright start to the day. i wouldn't go as far as saying it's going to be a sunny day on friday, but it is going to be a bright one. there'll be some scattered clouds, and actually in

from me, david cornock, bye for now. hello. it's rain, that's only coming for some. now saturday's weather looks to be a complete repeat of what we had on friday. warm sunny spells at times, from cloud, the chance of a shower. things are though steadily changing. we're going to bring warmer air into the uk, as the weekend goes on, more widely into next week. there will be a bit of rain in places as that transition takes place, more especially though across parts of scotland and northern ireland. let's take a look at things first thing for saturday morning. not as chilly to start the day. there's still the chance of a touch of ground frost in one or two spots. so by day and by night, temperatures are heading up. gardeners and growers can relax, unless of course you're waiting for some rain. there will be a bit of rain at times, across the far north of scotland, into orkney. a few showers to northern and western scotland. south—east scotland staying mainly dry. cloud building into northern ireland — one or two showers around here
