bureau reporter david culver has been looking at the spots that could pose a challenge for drivers tomorrow morning. he's live from ashburn in loudoun county. >> reporter: i can tell you right now doug mentioned that cold breeze. we're feeling that right now. that could certainly factor into some of the wet roads we found. we tracked across northern virginia, here in fairfax county, loudoun county working for you to get you an idea what conditions look like. come with us down sands road in loudoun county. the gravel stretch covered in snow, about to turn to ice. st what doesn't drain will turn into a slick sheet. streets in herndon quickly cleared. sidewalks, not so much. instead folks making the dangerous walk on the streets. if pedestrians, that could cause problems for some students. some using this day off wisely, clearing their own driveways and helping their neighbors dig out. some welcoming this first taste of winter in march. do you miss the snow? >> i kind of do. this is already. >> reporter: then back to spring, right? >> yeah, right. >> reporter: kids using the day off to burn en

david culver is now. david, do we know where the guns are? >> reporter: well, here's what we can tell you. the atf special agents identifying this case took the stand, testified in court today, and told the court that they have only recovered one of 35 stolen guns. the other 34, likely on the street. leaving alexandria's federal court today, one, two, three separate defense attorneys. one for each of the men accused. prosecutors say the masked faces in these surveillance images are those of preston holmes, matthew jones, and daniel quorals. this man was also in court, says he's a friend of one of the suspects. hesitant to believe the accusations. >> what do you make of the charges? >> i don't know. i don't know. i hope they're not true. >> since early march, officials have been responding to cases of stolen arms. cameras caught these suspects smashing displays swiping weapons in montgomery county, march 9th at united guns in rockville. prosecutors not saying if it's connected to the three in northern virginia on march 11th, at the 50 west arm

david culver is in chantilly now where vdot crews are loading up for a long night. >> reporter: you heard doug say flurries starting to come down in our area. we're starting to see them coming down the salt dome, sand and salt in there mounted very high up. a lot of folks see this and say this hasn't been on the road at all this winter. which is actually their 13th deployment this year. this with the storm coming through, going to be their busiest all year. you can hear hums of the trucks that are set up around me. 97% of the fire truck great for vdot is made up of contractors. starting yesterday you may notice they began loading up and pretreating some of the roads. this will continue nonstop through the night until the roads are clear of any snow. here they also actually brew their own brine, that liquid pre-treatment you office seen. you can see the rock salt dissolving in a big vat. then it will be pumped into the trucks and sprayed onto the roads. vdot is responsible for 18,000 lane miles in our area. that is like driving to northern california and back three times. vdot is also in t
