five years later former president richard nixon sat down for a series of interviews with david frost. the 11 sessions aired worldwide and included the former president's thoughts on topics ranging from the watergate scandal to the vietnam war. in a frost nixon, behind the scenes of the nixon interviews sir david frost recounts the preparation and execution required to produce the interviews and includes personal remembrances of his on and off camera conversations with president nixon. in 2007 david frost discussed his book with timothy attali, the director of the richard nixon presidential library and museum on book tv weekly interview program afterwards.

i'm here with sir david frost on "after words." we were just setting up the story, frost nixon interviews 1977. .. 60% of the things that president nixon did were good. 30% may not agree, but he didn't know it. and that last 10%. which were wrong and he must've known about it because the percentage was left out. 60, 30, 10. >> with any threat you? >> e. said -- he was saying he would screw us on the 60% or 10%, then i will pursue you. so on and so forth all do the same. so when that moment, the two sides were getting ready at that time, later on there is a pretty good relationship between the two. and they would like to jog boyers teams that were meeting at the end of the day to discuss how the relative bosses have done and so on and so forth. so it was quite collegial and the team he had very come with jack brown and diane sawyer and frankie and in an great price and so an all-star team intellectually and indeed if he had had had their man in the white house comment he might not have gotten this much trouble because they were an i

there was great debate when 1977 ex-president nixon participated in the marathon discussions with david frost and the president said -- the ex-president said when the president does it, it is not illegal. that was widely ridiculed at the time but i think it bears further scrutiny. we've just read, for example, and i don't think the obama white house has discounted these stories about president obama himself personally having control over a kill list of foreign and suspected terrorists. who are to be targeted with drone operations and other lethal means. if you or i had a kill list, it would be illegal. when the president does it, apparently it's not illegal so i think that is one of the great conundrum of watergate that we still wrestle and probably should but again it gets to the question of presidential powers and we should point out when the articles of impeachment were drawn up against richard nixon, there were five proposed and only three approved. the house judiciary committee declined to approve one of the articles that had to do with nixon exercising more powers in the bombing of camb
