i-35 @ oralabor coming up next, david geiger joins us with this morning's agribusiness report. and the centers for disease control is set to give their take on the severity of a spreading virus and if the u-s is at at the agribusiness association of iowa showcase and conference, lieutenant-governor kim reynolds was speaking on some of the ag issues in iowa. she spoke mostly on the governor's proposal funding education and water quality until 2049 called save. in 2009 a 1 percent sales tax was approved for 20 years for school infrastructure. reynolds and the governor want to extend it another 20 years. guaranteeing the first $10 million of annual growth to schools and using the extra growth for water quality funding. they estimate it would make $20.7 billion for schools and $4.7 billion for water quality. but the proposal branch. reynolds says they're willing to compromise to get it through, "reach out to your legislators and encourage them to work with us. it's a framework, we're willing to look at different ideas, different options, or certainly if they have a better idea that

good morning, this is the david geiger. ---- the dowdupont merger announced late last year is taking some heat from the senate judiciary committee.. chairman and iowa senator chuck grassley is raising alarms over the proposal to merge by companies dow and threatening possible hearings on the anti-trust implications of the move.. saying the judi@iary committee has an obligation to review the merger. the merge would create a 95 billion dollar company.. which would split into three separate companies.. all selling as much as a fifth of the worldldpesticides aa 40 percent of u-s corn and bean seeds.. grassley says that makes a huge concern because of a potential of reduced competition.. force layoffs.. and the history right here in iowa. coming up next, david geiger joins us with this morning's agribusiness report. and we'll show you who's leading in the polls ahead of this weekend's this year could be a competitive .the iowa farm service agency is in charge of that here, they say iowa has the most crp contracts in the nation about 100,000. the next highest is about 74,000. acres aren't as high, iowa has 1.4 million acres. nationally, there are 23.5 million acres and it all caps at 24 million. in recent years, the fsa says contracts have stayed steady, but acres have slowly declined, this could be a year where net acres go up. iowa could add another 100,000 acres and depending on if you're a cash- rent farmer or a landowner it could be good or bad. executive director of the iowa fsa john whitaker says, "if you're a producer that's losing acres to crp, it's bad. that's just the way it is. if you're someone that's trying to address a resource concern, which a lot of producers are doing that for water quality. it's a good thing." the decision to put more land into crp would also be an important bus

"this keeps dollars for energy in iowa, so there's no coal or natural gas resources in farmers instead.
