as we watch all these votes come in, let's talk about what's at stake today with david gregory, former moderator of meet the press. cnn political commentator donna brazile vice chairwoman at the democratic national committee, also a superdelegate who has not endorsed a candidate. and sam clovis, policy adviser for donald trump. welcome, nice to see all of you. let's begin with you, sir. donald trump has said over and over he wants to run the table. when you look at the states tonight do you think he can pull it off, will we be waking up tomorrow morning with him as the nominee? >> think it's quite possible. he looks very strong across the board. he has the potential to do extremely well in at least 9 of these 11 states and because it's proportional, he has an ability to rack up delegate numbers even where he's not winning. because of the rules the rnc put into place, it could hurt either cruz or rubio and other states. if trump is on top and either one of those other two don't get to 20%, they can't get to any delegates. that becomes important. the other thing is at the end of this nig

david gregory, to you first, what do you think trump says? >> i think he goes out of his way to insult mitt romney as a loser, someone who didn't win in 2012, someone who didn't get the say number of votes in 2012 in massachusetts as trump just did, someone who represents all of the old tired ideas of the establishment that has fueled donald trump's rise. and kind of a symptom of the problem. i would suspect if he's smart, as he's proven to be, donald trump, that he will add on another layer, which is this is a show of weakness on the part of rubio and cruz. that they couldn't make this case against him, trump, that they needed mitt romney. someone who's not running and who has not found it within himself to endorse anyone else, not cruz and not rubio. so he's not confident in anybody else. but only confident in himself to try to make the case to disqualify trump from consideration. >> okay. we can loop back and see if you are right on the money there. adrianna, to you, you support donald trump. in the wake of what romney said earlier, thanks

let me bring in journalist and author david gregory who served as moderator at nbc's "meet the press..stoddard, the hill, welcome both of you. if trump is ahead of cruz, in a hypothetical, trump edges out rubio by a statistically not significant two points, what does rubio have left to do here? >> he's got to win. he's got to overcome those numbers on election day. >> how? >> people who have been deciding late have been moving away from trump. so if any of the strategy that rubio's employed, attacking trump on all platforms, including in the debate last thursday, if any of that is working, maybe we'll see that among late deciders. but the reality is rubio is in, i think, a difficult situation. it all comes down to florida for him. cruz is starting to consolidate that conservative vote. he had a strong debate last thursday. i think things are moving in his direction in terms of being able to go on one with trump. >> a.b., let me ask you about this, talking about both senators, here you go. >> there's always a lobbyist to take care of a politician. they virtually advertise. i'll take ca

let's welcome back david gregory. want to bring in cnn politics executive editor, mark preston, and senior politics editor for the daily beast, jackie kucinich. mark, i want to start with you. i know you've had some conversations with the bernie sanders camp. what have they been telling you happened last night with hillary's big sweep? >> heading into tuesday night, their answer was this wasn't about winning states, it was about winning delegates, and that was their goal. but what i don't think they anticipated is that hillary clinton would do so well in illinois, in ohio, and we'll see what happens in missouri right there. another thing that they said to me, although this could have been favorable spin on their part. they said if they, at the end of tuesday night, is if they only had a 200, 225-delegate lead over bernie sanders, they would then be concerned. but i just did the math. and guess what, they're over 300 right now. 320 delegates over bernie sanders. the fact of the matter is that hillary clinton has the es

david gregory. maeve reston here as well. david, when we look at this you had the preference poll show hillary clinton 12 to 14 points up. the turnout was low. you saw independents and middleclass people fall into that disaffected group of voters. do we see that as a tale of the tape? >> it is enthusiasm. it is an open primary that allows not just democrats to come out but independents and others. that's fueling sanders. you know, we talk in elections about the desire for change. change elections. this is something that's much more convulsive. there is more ferment out there. there is a brokenness to our politics and to government. so many want to see all of that turned on its head. here talking about the democrats, you have voters in michigan who really responded well to his message about how trade takes away jobs from people in the country, particularly in this part of the country. this is government not delivering for the people it is supposed to serve. so people are saying no. we are not going to take that anymore. we wan

presidential campaign correspondent for the "new york times" maggie ha approximate berman and david gregory. let's start with the headlines. it sounds like the pledge is dead. what does this mean for the path forward for the republicans? >> well, you see it unraveling. as trump continues to succeed, it only deepens. if you're donald trump and you're going to be the nominee of the party you want some consolidation at some point along the way. it doesn't appear that's happening. if other candidates would stand up and say this guy would be a train wreck. i think this is also a serious warning for the party. it's true. if you're a pledged delegate to donald trump and you vote for him on the first ballot and there are subsequent ballots at the convention, you're likely to go elsewhere. you don't have to vote for him on the second and third ballot, you can go somewhere else. you will say, wait a minute, what kind of process is this? a lot of supporters could come with him. the results we don't know yet. it's probably not good for the party and the chances in november. >> john kasich and donald tr

david: is that something the republicans have to take into account? gregoryo have to take that into account. you know they will be looking at the politics of it. he would stand in contrast to what the rhetoric we are hearing from donald trump about illegal immigrants. immigrant -- sri was a legal immigrant. republicans will be scouring the argument, looking at the process. david: they confirmed him by 97 to nothing three years ago. greg: what they will say is that was for a federal appears court seat -- appeals court seat. there is a presidential election coming up. the same thing with merrick garland. he had white support previously -- wide support previously, but times are different now. david: go to the court and what's on the docket right now. what are the issues in front of the court that this could affect? gregory: there are couple of class-action cases before the court. you could area where see the next justice really making a difference. we've seen the court be divided 5-4 with conservatives winning in previous class-action cases. same thing with arbi
