i'm david gura. more on the controversy surrounding an allegation of sexual misconduct against supreme court nominee judge brett kavanaugh. "the washington post" has revealed california professor christine ford as the woman who authored the confidential letter alleging brett kavanaugh sexually assaulted her more than three decades ago. she's speaking out saying to the post if her story is going to be told, she wants to be the one to tell it. judge kavanaugh has denied the claims in that letter saying categorically and unequivocally deny this allegation. i did not do this back in high school or at time. moments ago saeenator feinstein says i support mrs. ford's decision to share her story and it is in the hands of the fbi to conduct the investigation. this should happen before the senate moves forward on the nominee. joining me now is former u.s. attorney and former federal prosecutor. dan, let me start with you and with senator feinstein's statement. she is prescribing what she thinks should happen.
