"for over an hour kerry obsessively dealt with settlements and barely touched poon the root of the conflict. palestinian opposition to a jewish state and any boundaries." what's your response? >> that's the criticism of course from the netanyahu government, one we've heard time and time again. important to note several months ago, of course, the u.s., under the obama administration, the largest ever security aid package to israel was authorized. we're talking $38 billion over ten years. so you do have this spat. it could have, perhaps, some of its roots in a very difficult personal relationship between the u.s. president and benjamin netanyahu, but strategically speaking it's difficult to argue that the united states is somehow turning its back on israel under president obama, because the aid, the strategic relationship is stil

can we get david keyes back? he's back. so, mr.ink you got the last part of your statement out. to that, talking about israel. your education minister said absolutely no to a palestinian state. your justice minister called a palestinian state hamas stan and opposing a palestinian state. how do you intend to pursue peace with that kind of a government? >> well, because in this government, even though there is a diversity of voices, the prime minister is called the prime minister for a reason. he supports two states for two peoples. and the vast majority of israelis earn for an end to this conflict. i think if the palestinians wanted a state, they could have had it a long time ago. every time they were offered a state as happened in 1947 and 1937, ten years before and 2000 and 2008. every time they were offered, they said no. and the reason is simple. because the conflict is not about the creation of a palestinian state. it's about the existence of a jewish state. and i can quote palestinian minister saying precisely that, as well. a

by the way, in our 8:00 hour, we'll speak to the spokesman for benjamin netanyahu, david keyes.yman, let me go to you on this. obviously, there's a lot of backdrop here on the relationship between president obama and president netanyahu, the iran deal at the center of it. this is just the latest and perhaps final in their strained relationship as president obama leaves office in a month. where does this leave the relationship between israel and the united states? >> well, there's two ways to look at it. one is the kind of diplomatic relationship that is very deeply engrained, very institutionalized. you can make the argument that intelligence sharing between the united states and israel is at an all-time high. you can make the argument that the united states has sold israel one of the largest military deals, about $38 billion worth, under the terms of president obama or when he was in office. you can make the argument that people-to-people relationship and all the cultural exchange has been as strained as it's ever been between the two countries. but you're no doubt you're absol
