david? did you have something? >> i wanted to address gary's core question of i could. i'm going to say something a little controversial. barbara, since you brought up the 70's, i'm going to quote jeannie kirkpatrick who said autocratic states don't become democracies but authoritarian states can. she was thinking in the context of latin america in the late 70's or 80's. i think time has proved her to be correct. one of the dictators we currently have, daniel ortega, it is not necessarily a bad thing to go to a coup. for an authoritarian government, autocratic government like iran to move to a coup is probably the only way you can do so successfully. i would point out anthony z.'s plan for iraq was basically that, it was not full regime change, it was some sort of a coup. military people tend to be more pragmatic than ideal and religious figures. that is not too controversial a statement. you are used to the word support for chemical, support carries a lot of weight. i think people would argue. and i think that if you look at states that have transitioned to a period of military rule to democracy, there is -- it has happens, where -- much less happening. we have seen turkey with mixed results. lat
