david lee miller's live in our new york city newsroom. those are the allegations david lee, what do we know? >> reporter: according to court papers two of the men wanted to join isis in syria the third helped bankroll the operation. all are from former soviet republics, but most recently they called brooklyn, new york home. one was in the u.s. illegally with an expired visa. the investigation began six months ago when one of the defendants from uzbekistan allegedly posted a threat on the internet saying he wanted to shoot president obama. authorities used a paid confidential informant and electronic surveillance to keep tabs on the three. in one recorded conversation the 19-year-old defendant from kazahkstan told the defendant if unable to travel to syria, quote, i will just go out and buy a machine gun, ak-47, go out and shoot all police. later in the conversation he says quoting again: it is legal in america to to carry a gun. we will go and purchase one handgun, then go and shoot one police officer. boom. then we will take his gun bull

david lee miller live at the scene with more. david lee?behind me is what remains of the 5:45 departure of the metro north train that left grand central station and hit an s.u.v. early yesterday evening. it was miraculous that anyone in the first car survived the impact of the collision. the driver of the s.u.v. was killed. five people in the train also died. as you mentioned, the ntsb is now on scene. they are actually touring the site at this very moment. a spokesman a short time ago said that team experts are on hand expertise and in a number of areas to figure what went wrong here. they're going to try they say and confirm some reports that have already been made public. according to the initial reports, a black s.u.v. tried to cross the railroad tracks yesterday evening. the crossing gate came down on the s.u.v. the driver then left her vehicle. she took a look around returned to the s.u.v. she then tried to move forward and that's when she got stuck on the tracks and the impact took police. the impact so great that the third rail pier

and we have fox team coverage and we begin with david lee miller who is in laguardia airport.id? >> reporter: throughout the day it is, we have seen cancellations increase. 1907 cancellations that took place. a significant number in laguardia airport. take a look at my shoulder at the departure monitor and all of the red indicating a cancellation. 320 cancellations today and that is 55 percent of all flights. also boston airport logan, 69 percent of all flights and newark 33 percent and jfk slightly more than a quarter of all flights have been cancelled today because of the weather. and then there are the delays. 1200 of them system wide. one reason for the delays, we have seen in laguardia airport, they are de- icing aircraft before they can depart. a number of airlines are suspending the change and cancellation fees for flights affected because of the storm. those are virgin, jet blue and united. as for the folks in the airport that we talked with. many anticipated the delays and some cases they got a notification and e-mail from the airport. there is frustration but the pas
