david louie watched all of this develop and he joins us now from antioch. david? cheryl and dan, this was a dramatic hostage situation lasting all afternoon. we are now learning about the suspect and why police were chasing after him and he had apparently stolen two vehicles in concord and they pursued him on surface streets and eventually got on to highway 4 and dropped down to l street and still cordoned off by police. here is video of that suspect giving himself up four hours after this incident all began. hands up in the air the second of two hostages were freed at the same time. the other hostage was released after 2:30 after he crawled out of a service bay roll-up door. a small armored vehicle picked him up and took him to safety. >> none of the hostages were injured and we talked to a woman who was caught up in the police chase and shexd explains what she saw and what happened to her and her vehicle. >> we'r%hnn the fast lane. all of a sudden this car kind of zooms and cut in front of me really quick. something was dragging alongside of him and i ran over w

david louie is live in campbell where this happened. david? >> dan and cheryl, campbell police have given this case their highest priority and they received dozens of tips as a result of releasing the sketch of the suspect as well as a video showing the suspect's vehicle. this is normally a safe and quiet neighborhood, but tonight, understandably, the residents are a bit on edge. this is a neighborhood where you see kids' bikes by the front door and their palm prints embedded in concrete driveways. on saturday morning a man drove by a young girl walking her dog on harriet haef with no one else around to witness what he was about to do next. new video show a man in a beige or silver, 1998 to 2002 honda accord sedan stalking the girl. the car first makes a u-turn and they wait for the girl to catch up to his position and cross the street. that's when he jumps out asking for directions and gives the girl a bear hug. she screamed and got away. the little girl gave a descriptive sketch. and so we all look at that online and we're looking for him so

abc 7 news reporter david louie joins us with the latest outside the superior court building in san jose. david? >> edgar covarrubias is facing charges of manufacturing child pornography and not just possessing it. that's got to shock hundreds of south bay parents who are concerned who may have shot pictures or videos of their children. >> the new charges prompted the prosecutor to ask for the court to raise covarrubias' bail from $125,000 to $200,000. the request was granted. covarrubias said nothing in court as this will delay his entering a plea until the end of june. he was known as papa bear at walden west an overnight environmental ramp owned and run by the county office of education and he underwent a background check before he was put with the annual visitors and school kids from all over santa clara county. detectives discovered over 600 images and videos of what they labeled as child porn on covarrubias covarrubias covarrubias' computer. prosecutor says they are not sure if others were involved. >> we are doing our best to go in through all of the leads that we have been provid
