we want to go to david mckenzie in johannesburg.t impact could this have on developing nations, including many in africa? >> reporter: kim, global impact. as nic says, a lot of this is believed to be leverage from the russians to try and squeeze ukraine and the group of nations that is supporting it. it is worth noting that the nation that has received the single-biggest shipment of product has been spain. there is a sense that the developing countries haven't received necessarily as much grain as has been talked about. but that doesn't really paint the real picture here. there's two aspects to this. one is the physical grain that has reached countries like somalia, desperately in need of food. but it's also the price, inflationary pressure that places the entire globe in more of a squeeze because of the shutdown of grain. we were in tunisia earlier this year. just before that, the government had to give more than $100 million in emergency loan from the world bank just to afford wheat for the subsidized prices that they have for the

cnn's david mckenzie joins me now from johannesburg with more, david? >> reporter: that's right.this ever-expanding conflict between russia and ukraine, the issue of global energy security in particular is critical. we took a rare trip into northern mozambique where those issues could be partially solved but the population is dealing with a devastating isis-linked insurgency. isis didn't end, it shifted to ungoverned spaces like this. we're embedded with rwandan security forces in northern mozambique, battling an isis-linked insurgency. the tactics are familiar, if unspeakably brutal. to sow terror, burn schools, create chaos. they've displaced nearly 1 million people. jihad in mozambique is an extension of the islamic state jihad all over the world, he says, in a message posted in august. what was it like when they attacked? >> translator: they first came to this area to spread their propaganda. they melted back into the forest and then later attacked. >> reporter: in the december prior, a strategic port town, isis mozambique arrived in force, held the territory for a year. >> t

david mckenzie will be following the story very closely. >>> in the meantime we want to continue our kaiser family foundation reveals important findings on the state of our children's mental health. joining us is dr. tara narula. welcome to cnn. >> thank you. >>> yesterday you told us nine out of ten americans view mental health as a crisis situation in this country. what impact is it having on kids? >> the picture is not great. the survey yesterday was 2,000 american adults, 400 of them were parents and 50% of them identified mental health in teens and kids as a crisis. 47% said the pandemic had negatively impacted their children and 17% had a major negative impact. when asked what they were worried about, eight out of ten cited apenxiety, depression. two thirds felt that schools should be involved in helping with this problem. but as we talked about yesterday, john, this is a family affair. when your kids are suffering, having issues, it impacts the entire family. >> what's the importance of a survey like this? >> this is so important. we talk about this all the time. but basically

david mckenzie is in johannesburg, but first nic robertson in kyiv.nd the reaction. -- the decision and the reaction. >> reporter: it seems that the decision russia has taken from a ukrainian perspective is being perceived in the framing of putting pressure on ukraine, putting pressure on ukraine's international partners to put pressure on ukraine to come to terms on a peace deal with russia. the terms of which ukraine and the international backers are absolutely not prepared to accept. and some of the indicators in this have been coming over recent weeks according to president zelenskyy. >> translator: russia began aggravating the food crisis back in september when it blocked the movement of ships with our food there september to today, 176 vessels have already accumulated in the green corridor which cannot follow their route. some grain carriers have been waiting for more than three weeks. this is an absolutely deliberate blockade by russia. >> reporter: russia says that ukraine deliberately attacked its naval vessels and russia says that this evide

david: we're focusing on natural gas but let's focus on oil for a second we have about 15% of all domestic oil from the gulf of mexico. mckenzie & company just came out with this remarkable report and it's not a conservative outfit by any stretch. in fact this report itself is very green in their orientation, but they say that we could double the amount of oil that we get from the gulf of mexico. in other words, that would amount to about 30% of all of the oil produced in the united states and by the way, the oil that comes out of the gulf of mexico has about half of the emissions per-barrel that is the bad gasses and so forth that they are worried about. it has about half the emissions that normal basin oil does, so we could do this , but the administration wants to cut back on offshore drilling, so just at a time where we could double the amount of oil, we're getting from the gulf of mexico, the administration wants to cut it by about 68%. >> right, and this is again when you start making energy policy based on politics, as opposed to reality, right? and this is the problem with the entire green energy movement everything th
