david lee miller arrived on the scene. what do you know? reporter: shepard, this is the perspective from one city block it's an overpass off in the distance, you can see where the four-story building stood, where it collapsed on top of th two-story building housi the salvation ar a search and rescue operation is still under way. a few moments ago the mayor and other city officials held a news conference. they said 14 people had been recovered. 13 rather ominously takto the hospital. authorities would not discuss the fate of the 14th 14th individual. local media including our fox affiliate is reporting that one person is dead. presumably that's the 14th 14th person that authorities a few moments ago could not discuss. the fire comioner also spoke within theast few minutes. he said that they're bringing in fresh personnel and additional sniffer dogs and sounding equipment to sear for those who still may be trapped under the rubble. here is what philadelphia mayor mike nutter said a short time ago. >> if there is anyone else in that structure,

david, thank you very much, tonight. in houston, the mayor there says four firefighters were killed today battling a fire that spread to a restaurant and motel. several others were hurt. doug miller from our cbs houston affiliate khou is at the scene tonight. >> reporter: the fire broke out in that hotel shortly after noon and first firefighters on the scene thought they had it under control. but then it spread through the attic and they had to call for help. it was a five-alarmer, more than 100 firefighters called to the scene. initial reports indicated that a half dozen firefighters had been injured. only after they dug through the rubble did they discover the deaths. four firefighters dying. the fire broke out alongside one of the busiest freeways in the state of texas. backing up traffic for miles, and for hours. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. doug miller for cbs news, houston. >> dubois: the u.s. naval academy is investigating rape allegations against three of its football players. the pentagon made the announcement today. it did not identify the men. david martin is at the pentagon with more. >> reporter: an ugly secret hung over last december's army-na
