bristol-myers squibb is a prime example today, down sharply after morgan stanley cut it to equal weight from overweight. analyst davidys not a question of fundamentals or bad news on the horizon, it's all about price, and bristol-myers squibb is a little rich compared to its peers. not so much anymore, though. his price target $23 a share. it's below that but still near it. and so that might suggest that maybe some money's supposed to come out here. here's merck, which is helping it drag down the dow industrials today. as you can see, they've helped as safe havens as the market came back, but maybe sort of underpinning and looking like they're getting a little rich. schering-plough down about a percent today as well. although it is up 39% over the last year. these moves, again, not particularly news-related, it seems. the big pharma stocks traditionally defensive plays, which explains why a lot of money has been moving into the sector in the past year. again, that relative to some others, but as we look at the pharmaceutical index it's interesting to consider whether these stocks really are starting to turn now, and

david tice, bear market strategist at federated investors. and kevin flanigan, fixed income strategist at morganstanley smith barney. great to have all of you guys here today. and kevin, let's start off with you. anything you heard today that changed your view, that makes think differently about the future and your market stance? >> no. i think the two important takeaways was first they continued to leave the language in there that they're not going to raise the funds rate anytime soon. so when we get these less bad employment reports, let's not watch fed fund futures. let's listen to what the fed's trying to tell us. the second aspect is i think the fed is putting to rest finally any thought or consideration they're going to add to the treasury purchase program, follow in the bank of england's path or anything like that. those are my two takeaways. >> david, you think this is a false rally and this leveling out concept brought out by the fed-s that baked into this number? >> we think leveling out is the key word and the green shoots are not indicating a v recovery, it's really an l recovery. an
