rick scott. the contest very close after an initial machine recount. daviddlick, it's heading towards this hand recount. what do you anticipate? >> i'm not sure nelson is going to make up that ground, but i do think it is important at this point for florida, for all the states where the races still aren't in to get this right. more important i think for either party than how many vote or excuse me, seats they pick up in congress is that people have confidence in these elections. >> people aren't going to have confidence, gloria, if the president keeps saying there is a lot of illegal voting going on. >> which he does. people go change their clothes, put on hats, go back and vote. the president loves to talk about voter fraud. he talked about it during after he won the presidential election because he lost the popular vote by three million. a and he is talking about it now. and what he is doing is political. he is protecting himself and republicans should they lose, should it not turn out in their favor, then they can claim that it is fraudulent. and that wor

david chal n chalian. when you think of what's happened in palm beach county, this is great news if you are governor rick scott. >> yeah, the numbers tell the story that tom was just showing. so in palm beach county, the initial vote that was sent in by last saturday was the initial deadline to get the initial canvas in. you saw there that nelson won palm beach county by 16 points. he got about 100,000 more votes than rick scott in palm beach county. it's a democratic bastion and there are a lot of people there. if you're in the nelson campaign, your entire strategy for recounts -- how do we expand the universe of legitimately counted ballots so that we have a chance to make up that gap? and how do you do that in heavily democratic counties because that's where you can make the biggest jumps? so a case like palm beach, that is the first place lawyers would look to say how do we find more legitimate ballots that need to be part of this count? and now with the news that palm beach is just reporting what they reported on saturday, that there is no adjusted number, there is no recount, the universe did not expand

david gura. we're getting closer to a deadline in which a hand recount has to happen in florida. at the end of the machine recount rickvotes. nelson has been holding out hope that litigation will put more votes into play. ali is in florida. what are the candidates holding out hope for? >> we've been up in tallahassee all week and now we're in palm beach county, one of the counties that's been facing scrutiny about how it's going through the recount. the hand recount portion in the u.s. senate race is done. overall when you look at the 12,000 vote margin that bill nelson has to overcome, you want to look at broward their hand recount faster than people thought, especially when given the nelson campaign has been saying thousands of votes could be put back in play. the scott campaign is seeing that as a sign there's no way for the nelson campaign to reverse this margin. i've been trying to get in touch with the nelson folks all morning. have not heard back from them. most of the florida papers this morning on the front pain are ca page are calling it virtually impossible to reverse these numbers. >> appreciate it. >>> le

rick scott saying, no, i don't want to do that. >> i think i've is signed thousands of books, and i'm sure you have too david corn. i'm not sure my signature matches on any one of those books, any two of those books. anything unusual or suspicious that you can actually see happening in this process? >> i guess i'm kind of jaded i'm used to close elections in florida. i'm not used to having six recounts in one election. i still don't think this is at that level of dysfunction because now we have a more systematized way of reviewing disputed ballots. but really what's surprising here was the governor kind of went early and really went hard in alleging fraud, essentially, and alleging that the democrats were trying to steal the election before the votes were counted. and then he directs a request at the florida department of law enforcement review everything. and as you had mentioned earlier they then basically say there's no real allegation here so there's kind of nothing to investigate. now, one of the problems you find is that nature abhors a vacuum and similarity politics abhors a vacuum of information. and the s
