"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt has traveled to pike county for us and he joins us with the very latest on the case now david? >> reporter: chris eric frein is back behind bars here in pike county right now the judge decided there is enough evidence for him to stand trial. we don't know exactly when that will be, but the the prosecutor is seeking the death penalty. a shackled eric frein said nothing as state police troopers escorted him out of the pike county courthouse late monday afternoon. he followed the late corporal brian dickson's widow and members of dickson's family. inside state troopers and the county coroner took the stand all recounted where they were september 12th when police shot to of their own killing dickson and injuring trooper alex douglass. in court the prosecution played surveillance video from inside the blooming grove barracks. on camera troopers pulled corporal dickson's body back in the building. alex douglass dragged himself across the lobby floor moments after he was shot. he is still least covering at home. >> it is a long road to recovery. he has su

"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt joins us live from north philadelphia where family and friendsre mourning this loss, david. >> reporter: jessica, this is a very confusing story and family and friends want answers. behind me is the bus stop where this happened and police are in the middle of a manhunt priority number one finding out who shot and killed a mother of two in broad daylight. things were quiet on the corner of developth and jefferson tuesday night. 12 hours earlier kim jones lost her life shot in the back of the head by a man police say then left carrying a duffle bag. >> everybody knew who she was. she caught the bus every morning to work, so it's like who would? and i mean, broad daylight? >> reporter: detectives are confident the attack was not random. >> someone knew her routine. somebody knew that every morning she got on the bus at that time to go in to work and ambush her. >> reporter: jones a program director at turning point for children was on her way to the office on south 15th street. >> it just seems so senseless. it's hard to process. >> reporter: michae

"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt tells us just how long it took crews to clean up. >> reporter:mergency crews rushed to the scene where dozens of cars were twisted and turned in every direction. as the sun came up, the enormity of the pileup became clear. >> it was just a big load of cars a lot of mayhem and chaos going on. >> reporter: colleen graves tells "eyewitness news" she was stuck about a mile behind the pileup for several hours. >> i saw a lot of people just not paying attention, driving away too quick. >> reporter: state police officials say one person died, about 30 suffered injuries. some were treated on the scene, others taken to local hospitals for observation. >> 10 minutes later it was a bunch of cars piled everywhere so i had to get the -- back away. >> reporter: driver devon gay says video like this is hard to watch. >> it's horrible. i've been sitting out here since 7:30. >> reporter: salt trucks cleared the way to open the westbound lanes at 2:15. seven hours after the pileup began. as temperatures increased ice melted turning the attention to the minor flood

"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt tells us it was an emotional day to a day spent honoring a civils icon. >> dr. martin luther king, jr. was top of mind for almost 200 south jerseyans who came to this sewell movie theater for a private screening of "selma." >> i lived through the 60's. i graduated from morgan state university in 1969. >> reporter: angelina hall watts says "selma" is a must seen the movie theme is personal to her. the private screening response toured by the perfection church encouraged all ages to take a front row seat to history. >> movie is long overdue. this happened so long ago. they're just getting around to making this movie. >> reporter: the private screening capped off a day of service. they painted a homeless shelter. members took part in a panel about dr. king's impact. >> we don't tell our stories anymore in the african-american community. it seems we just tell our successes, not the persevering, not the agony not the challenges to work where we are today. >> reporter: pastor kevin brown says he's seen "selma" before but jumped at the opportunity see it

"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt shows us how. >> new jersians waited to welcome 2015 from the battleship to the suburbs, we found plenty of people, exited to start the the new year. we caught up with worshipers a at the gloucester county community church where hundreds packed inside to pray for a new year. full of non-violence and good fortune. >> praise god pray, remember all of the wonderful things he has done for me in 2014. know what he has already prepared for me in 2015. >> we're just blessed in the year 2014. >> reporter: while services were going on kid in camden said good bye to 2014 by spending time with police officers who gave out goodies and made hure everyone was safe. >> i grew up in the city all my life. when i was a kid growing up there was nothing like this. i think, community policing we have been doing here is great. >> reporter: just a few miles away more families pack the u.s.s. new jersey, a trip back in time to world war two. we spoke with friend who decided to spend the night on board. >> it is a lot of fun. we have done this before. >> reporter: david
