david ward, the owner of the newly opened bar on broadway spent less than two minutes at his club late monday. he released a statement says at no time were they patrons of sweet jimmies. they were attempting to rob someone outside. when they failed, they began shooting. several people ran inside sweet jimmie's get to away from gunfire. six people shot, two of them killed. >> this is one of the safest areas in the community. it doesn't affect the businesses directly as much as it affects it clients. people don't want to come to a place they think they are going to get shot. who can blame them. >> reporter: business is thriving in this tough economy. >> it's a shame. fight that is used to happen with fists is happening with guns. >> reporter: business owners say some clubs attract an element that brings violence with it. many businesses closed because of it. some say it's a part of living in an urban area. >> i live in a nice part of san francisco where somebody got shot down the street. somebody working down tone. it's the dangerous nature of the world we live in. >> reporter: police sa

the restaurant manager david ward released a statement. we want to extend our condolences to all the families and friends of the victims involved in the tragic shooting incident. the perpetrators were trying to rob somebody outside, the people the outside burst into our restaurant seeking refuge from the gunman. the gunman followed it sprang several rounds wounding in killing several innocent people. kron 4 spoke to investigators about the case. >>haazig: one thing is not adding up that's how a police source close to the investigation describes a recent multiple shooting killing two people and wounding four others here at sweet jimmy's restaurant on broadway at oakland's jack london square early monday. this is video recorded at the scene. police investigators are looking into an attempted robbery jimmy's. that spilled over into the restaurant with the shooter followed the victims inside. oakland police say in order for that theory to work the attempted robbery victims need to come forward. at this time investigators say no one has done so
