. >> good evening, president hill and commissioners, david winslow, staff architect. the item before you is a public initiated request for discretionary review for a building permit application to construct a roof deck in the buildingable area of an existing three story single-family dwelling. a 6 foot tall ottawa slat wind screen set back 5 feet from the west side property line is also proposed as part of this construction. the proposed roof deck will be set back 25'3" from the front property line, 4'2" from the east side property line. no set back is proposed at the rear property line as access to the proposed deck will be via a roof hatch and proposed landing. minimal guardrails, and parapets ranging from 30 inches to 42 inches as required by building code are proposed around the deck. the reason for the d.r. is the d.r. requester's concerns include two primary issues: a light to the interior of their house and privacy, specifically, the roof deck will allow visibility into the d.r. requesters home. to date, the department has received zero letters in opposition an
