sergeant davidson reports for duty in the early morning hours on a hot summer day.fter filing some reports, he heads out on patrol. only a couple of hours into his shift, davidson receives a call. >> i had been working a little bit of traffic enforcement, dispatched to a stranded motor vehicle. a motorist had a right rear flat tire. >> reporter: on a busy bridge, the driver's attempting to change his blown tire on a very tight stretch of highway. >> the shoulders are narrow at the top of the bridge, and you can also feel the bridge move. he got out and started changing his tire and became apprehensive and nervous because of all the heavy traffic. >> davidson arrives on the scene within minutes. >> as i pulled up to the vehicle, i noticed the right rear tire of the vehicle was flat. he just wanted a patrol vehicle there for the safety to keep vehicles off of him while he changed the tire. >> after exiting his patrol car, davidson approaches the motorist to offer assistance. >> he changed his tire. he had the flat tire leaning up against the concrete traffic barricade

davidson admitted to something that amounts to sexual abuse of the child and also admitted to dropping the child on several occasions. 23, he to the police he violently shook the child, the day that paramedics were called to this neighborhood, a day that neighbors remember well. it was a tuesday and it was raining outside. five fire trucks came down here and all the firefighters ran upstairs. they came down with a baby in the rain. just kind of naked, no parents. that is what we thought was strange. it's tragic. to see stuff like that, it's crazy. just a little baby. nowadays you don't know what's going on. the little baby girl's name who lived here was 10 week old alia thompson, the mother, according to the police failed to stop her boyfriend even after she had seen obvious signs of abuse on several occasions. that is why they say she is charged as well. she is also the mother of a five-year-old son by another man, who is in the custody of his father tonight. live from rockville, tom roussey, abc 7 news. leon: thank you, tom. happening now, protesters in the streets of charlotte, nort

. >> i'm tracy davidson. let's begin with meteorologist bill henley who has issued a first alert for today because of the storms moving through right now and the potential for storms later in the day. bill? >> i'm tracking the storms on the first alert radar, a line of storms moving to the eve at 40 miles an hour. it's a fast mover. when we went on the air at 4:00 this morning, these storms were moving through york county and now lancaster county has seen them clear. but they are raging through portions of chester county and into delaware county. some of the heaviest rainfall crossing into delaware county. these storms are on the move at 40 miles an hour. it won't take long for them to move to philadelphia. could be here with the heavy rainfall by 5:30. as well as heavy rain there's a potential, you can see a potential for hail damaging winds. these storms could produce winds in excess of 60 miles an hour. some very heavy rainfall within those storms but they are moving to the east. those storms expected to b
