and it is located right on the potomac river, it is south of dc. two factors that usually favor low snowfall amounts. this one was pretty far below. a lot of that is in question is the accuracy of the measuring of snow. they have to do it at airport because it's official, they have someone on staff who can take these measurements every six hours and they have to use a snow board. it's an actual board every six hours they wipe clean, get a new measurement and they add them all up. but there's some question as to the legitimacy as to the readings that occurred over the weekend. 17.8 at reagan, that's our fourth biggest snowstorm but look at dulles and bwi. so much more other measurements around washington, d.c., this is probably more accurate, were more around or just below 2 feet. we can conclude by saying you probably got closer to more than 2 feet are you are in the district and the national weather service has said they are investigating these measurements at reagan. we'll of course keep you posted. that's the latest from out here. sarah and tony

the top one the most snow we've ever had in dc. it produced 28 inches of snow in dc.t possible we could crack the top five? we'll wait and see. but we have some pretty big totals that you're going to see on our map in terms of how much snow we are expecting and a blizzard watch has already been posted for our area in the friday night-saturday time frame. lots of company with winter storm watches and warnings. the warning is what you see in the dark blue here. that is likely a little bit for the clipper coming on through but the winter storm watch that is effect for all of our area will likely get upgraded. if it gets upgraded that means those conditions are about to occur. you need to be in your home and batten down for this big storm. in an el nino year you get huge storms with a lot of moisture. the timing is in the favo of snow lovers this year. maybe too much of a good thing because this is an awful lot of snow. the storm is at the sweet spot. it literally has washington, d.c. and our western suburbs in the bullseye. just to show you how confident we have become,

dc. we got into dc, and every time we turned around we saw another truck. especially on massachusetts avenue. we were looking at blacktop for a lot of that trip and when we got out here to wisconsin avenue, which we're going to show you right now, this was in pretty good shape. we've noticed a few things and i want to show you this because this is something i would say in about the last hour or so started to develop. look up at that street light up there. we're seeing these large or icicles starting to form right now. we saw a couple of them when we were down in old town. but you look at the size of those things right now, that's probably about a foot and a half. the reason for this, we were feeling this back and forth all night between sometimes it felt like rain, sometimes it felt like ice pellets. now it seems to be a pretty steady snow. but for a while there when that mix was going on, every time it was mixing it was almost freezing immediately on the windshield. so we got to a point at one point where i said, you know, to paul the camera man we just be

i'm the mayor of washington dc, its sunday, the sun is out in washington dc, and we are very happy toere at one of our salt domes, where our crews are hard at work to provide the latest in our regular updates on blizzard 2016. today we are really focused onditioning out washington dc, today is day one to big out from 2 feet of snow. it isn't forecasted to get above freezing today. our goal today continues to be to make the major roads passible and to do as much as we can on secondary roads. that work will continue for the coming days. we are very happy to report that a lot of new equipment arrived in washington dc today, that is being dispatched for this part of our snow recovery phase for this storm. this has always been our plan. we expect more than 400 pieces of equipment to arrive at rfk and other locations today including plows, bobcats and dump trucks. this will more than triple our snow removal equipment. we are asking residents to stay off the streets, the crews need access to the streets to clear them safely, so we can get dc back. first of all we need you to not only keep yo
