[applause] >> good evening, everybody. 32-year resident of the english side neighborhood. not a native, as my daughter's tell me, but 32 years is a long time. thank you for being here tonight and listening to us. here are some items i would like you to consider. first of all, let's get back balboa park station fix that. as we do it, let's not forget about pedestrian improvements. we have to make sure that with gas at $4 or $5 a gallon, we will all be walking, so let's make it as attractive and pedestrian-friendly as possible. second, we have a signature building in this neighborhood. it has been an abandoned eyesore for too long. there is a fabulous program by the friends of the geneva car barn to put together a youth programs there. why can we have a signature building in this neighborhood with signature programs for all the youth we have? we have the kids out here.

our city that have the biggest share of our general fund dollars, closely following on the list are dcyf, the rec and park department, and others. as supervisor cohen said, we have asked our departments to propose 10% reductions to their general fund support an additional 10% contingency to put ideas on the table, to think about how we are going to be able to close this deficit. we are in the process right now of looking at those ideas and thinking them through. as the mayor said, we want to hear your thoughts about these ideas as we are in our decision making process. just to kind of put the challenge in perspective, if we took the full 20% from every department and said we were going to put that in our budget, that would only save us about $180 million from this point forward. we are working on other solutions, but the point of this is to illustrate the challenge in front of us and the reason we are having discussions that we have to have tonight to balance our deficit. another point is that going forward, there is not that much improvement on the horizon, and our projections show we w

they do call out dcyf. they have a great number of youth programs that should be related to this, especially related to the water. we had a very good meeting with the general manager of recreation and park, high demand goes up to talk about the issues to say what is the inventory of the things we see here in san francisco that could be leveraged. when the event authority, which has already had exciting discussions about the sailing in the u.s. involvement piece of sailing can enhance both directions. i think it is a starting point. i think there is a lot of work to be done to figure out what the right strategies are and making sure we are hitting all of the groups, including underserved useyouth, but this s obviously something that is key. i would also know they have been great in developing curriculum for schools. we would like to see that if we can massage that forward and create that link for youth as well. supervisor campos: i think it is great you continue to involve the district two and the supervisor
