[shouting] yes, let's not forget puerto rico. still suffering, joe. here's a fun fact. i did not attend my college graduation. my senior year of college i was a busybody, at least that's what the administration called me. i was serving as the president of the african-american student alliance which was an organization that i had cofounded the year prior. and aside from the best events on campus, we were laser focused on rating of the campus of its racist and discriminatory practices. and that when once cleared uniy instituted a discriminatory zero-tolerance policy for the mostly black residential students. and we organized a press conference to voice our discontent. the school created new fees and then tried to remove the mostly black students on campus for not paying them. so then we held the biggest event our campus addressing and

did dean or neil want to say something? >> we talked about this in the back room earlier that the interesting thing historically that we need to learn from is arguably the help america vote act not only provided funding but mandated the move to that equipment and it was a knee-jerk reaction to it happened in the 2000 election and it was believed that the solution was to get up bed of a punchcard voting and that would be better so it's an onslaught of federal funding and they have one electronic piece of voting equipment in every polling place and that money was spent very fast on substandard agreement does not developed with voters or usability mind and develops because there was money out there and there was a limited market place for it. as odd as it might sound because i'm a huge advocate for funding and resources we definitely need that but need to be sure there are some guidelines on the use of that funding. >> and the choices. >> right, and the reality the right now the market is not much better today than when [inaud

. >> howard dean, does any of this stick to the president politically, because even if it is not all the bases for charges, it is literally all the things he accused hillary clinton of? or is this such a high polarizing environment and the russian probe has a legal component, which we try to cover in a clear, legal way here, but it is obviously politically viewed through quite a prism out there. >> it very much sticks to the president and can a fascinating example of public radio. there was a story this morning talking about the schism between conservative catholics and the evangelicals. evangelical so-called christians are all-in with trump regardless of the morality. the catholics are not. and the bishops are very upset about the immigration policy, the policies towards poor people, and the morality of trump has infected his support. he was helped by a lot of working class people. he's going to get a much smaller percentage of the catholic vote in 2018 and 2020 as a result of, i think, the bishop's disgust with this kind of behavior. >> clarence? >> well, you know, i covered chicag
